    Christchurch - taking kids

My DH has decided he wants to go back home for a few weeks next year. I met him over there and have a lot of friends there as well, so normally there wouldn't be a question of me going..

But after the bad quake in Feb, and the continual aftershocks, I mentioned that I wasn't sure about taking the kids there.

Now I still have feelings of it not being safe, but also feel the need to see everyone and what they have been through, and support DH knowing his hometown is never going to be the same as when we were there last..

Would you take your kids somewhere where you know is still having multiple aftershocks (some quite large) everyday?

I am so torn, and know there is no right or wrong, but interested in others reason why or why not they would go.

Difficult decision. I suppose it would depend on which time next year? I would feel more comfortable about going later rather than earlier as it gives you a chance to see if the aftershocks quieten down.

If I decided to go I would also make sure I had some very good travel insurance that allowed me to cancel if another major earthquake happened before you go there, or if it happened while you were there, any extra costs that you incurred (health wise or special travel to get out of there) you were reimbursed for.

Hi, Were going in Nov. Only the odd shake, think most has well died down. The side on the hill though may not be the safest or most damaged parts. Near the airport area west has not been so affected.
