86% of Women Breastfeeding at 6-7 Months!

Just reading a survey done by the Midwifery Group Practice I had care for me when pregnant with both DD's and a survey done in 2008 showed that 86% of women were Breastfeeding at 6-7months! (This was only a small sample group of 100 women and didnt state wether it was exclusive BF ot not). I am sure the skills and compassion of the midwives in the practice contributed to this fantastic statistic. With my first DD their advice, reassurance and assistance helped me build my confidence andget through some small hurdles that if not picked up could have had a huge impact on my breast feeding journey!

I think everyone woman should have the option to access midwifery led care or to have a primary midwife even if they experience a high risk pregnancy and need obstertic assistancde. Im hoping I will be able to access the MGP this pregnancy.

Thats really excellent. I had MW care through my high risk pregnancy and again through this pregnancy (shared care both times) though I DO have to say MW don't always make the best people to turn to for Lactation advice though. I was told by a MW to just FF DD when I had some issues earlier in the piece.
Still with the help of my LC and my stubborness we managed roughly 20 months of BF
