    Attack of the bees!

I think this is in the right place...

This afternoon I was changing bubs nappy in the nursery, which is down the front end of the house. I could hear really loud buzzing, as though there were a bee or wasp nest just outside the window. I had a look and there was nothing that I could see so I thought maybe they were in the roof above me. I finished changing his nappy and then went to put him on his playmat in the back room so I could have a stickybeak, but noticed that the buzzing was even louder out there.

We have an enclosed sunroom on the back of our house, so I went in there to see if it got louder and to my horror there was a full swarm of bees in my backyard! I called my dogs and locked them in the sunroom so they wouldn't get stung, and called hubby at work but he didn't know what else I could do besides call a pest control guy. Anyway, the swarm started to ease and I noticed they were flying to (and crawling all over (eww)) a big gum tree in my neighbours backyard. It seems that there is a massive bee population living in a tree that overhangs my yard.

My neighbours weren't, and still aren't, home, so I haven't had a chance to talk to them. I'm a bit uncomfortable going to talk to them anyway, they remind me of the creepy neighbours in The Burbs! I also emailed the council as soon as it happened, but aside from this is there anything else I can do? I know the nest is in the neighbours yard, but the swarm of angry bees was in MY yard. I'm concerned mainly for my bub when we're playing in the backyard, and my dogs who live in the backyard. Also, both our houses back onto a school so the kids there are potentially at risk too...

    Any advice?

Find a beekeeper and they will gladly come and collect the hive and alive

There are bee specialists who can remove them. A feral bee swarm is dangerous so you can call the council to get rid of it asap.

Hey this did happen a couple of times at our place they covered all our windows and we were scared to leave the house. The bees moved on after about a week and re located on their own. Heres hoping yours do too
