Question Did you keep a lock of your LO's hair?

DS is having his first haircut tomorrow and DH asked me if we're keeping a lock of his hair. I hadn't even thought about it. My mother didn't keep mine (she'd be totally grossed out by the idea!)

Did you keep a lock of your LO's hair? If not, do you wish you had? What do I do with it if I do keep it?! Did your parents keep one of yours and do you still have it? Does it have sentimental value for you? If not, do you wish they had? TIA

I kept DD's from her first hair cut.... I just put it in her baby book (it had a special little pocket for first haircut).... I'm really glad I kept it as I think I would really regret it if I didn't keep it... I'm not to sure if my mum kept mine

DD has her baby box - it has things like her hospital bands, a couple of dried roses from the flowers people sent us, her baby cards and so on...and yes, a lock of her hair though that came from her first haircut at about 18 months cause she was a little baldie

My mum didn't keep much from us as babies, I don't even really have any baby photos left as I think they got left with my father who I'm not in contact with anymore. DD loves her baby photos and her box, so I'm glad we've got those for her.

Yes I did it's only a tiny bit and I am so glad I did as I am a real sentimental person and know in time I will be looking back at all these things I have kept and written down from my little boys baby days as they just go so fast and I want to catch and keep as much of it as I am looking forward to the day I'll get to share all of this with him when he's all grown up these are such precious times and I try to capture as many memories as I can (I have kept and saved many things).

I sure did! I'm very sentimental about things like that, it's from his first hair cut and the hairdressers asked me if I was going to keep some before I mentioned it! I keep it in a little baggie for now as I haven't gotten around to sticking it in his book. I also have his umbilical cord stump

My mum kept my hair and she's since given it to me.

    Aw, the memories!

My mum kept mine in a baby book too, which I really treasure. I'm planning to do the same.

DD1 still hasn't had one! I can't bare to loose those beautiful curls...
But, yes I will keep some when she eventually has one.
I put some of DSS away too for him too. It wasn't his first haircut but he was young.

Thanks ladies. It seems it's the thing to do. As DH said, if we don't keep some, we can never get it back. I'll put it in his baby book with all his other mementos - birth notice, hospital bracelet etc.

ohhh that's exciting! I haven't even thought about cutting ds's hair yet but yesterday a friend gave me 2 of those little pewter baby keepsake boxes and one said babies 1st curl on it seeing ds has a curl or 2 to put in it I thought it would be cool to put some hair in it when does have his 1st hair cut. My mum kept some hair of mine and it's in my baby album.

Sure did DD had her first hair cut just a few weeks ago - not long after her second birthday. Yep, she was a baldy for a while! Thankfully the hair dresser just put some aside for me or I would have forgotten!

I was given a photo frame gift set when she was born which has a matching little box for her baby hair and another for her first baby tooth. I've put her hair in there for safe keeping.

I would have loved to have seen a bit of my baby hair cause it sure has changed in colour over the years Not to mention, nothing beats the softness of baby hair

Sorry to go against the grain. DD hasn't had one yet but I won't be keeping any. Strange because I am usually a very sentimental person (DH says I'll cry over the phone book!) but I just don't get the hair/tooth thing.
