Has anyone built an IKEA laundry using the kitchen cupboard etc???
Hi girls,
Just wondering if anyone on here had built an IKEA Kitchen?
DH and I went up there today (it is over an hour drive from where we live) and I was really disappointed. The kitchen products etc were lovely but the staff were so rude
It isnt easy to piece it all together (or maybe im just thick). I asked a few simple questions and it was all to hard for the girl to spend 2 minutes helping me.
We have picked out the cupboards etc that we are going to use but we are having trouble trying to calculate the bench top.
If you have done a kitchen or laundry, did you find it hard to put together? How did you go about ordering your bench top? We need 1.54m but they are measured per metre, do ikea make them to order?
We did a full kitchen reno at my parents house using the kit kitchen goodies from Bunnings. We looked at Ikea but Bunnings prices were very comparable. The kitchen looks amazing and so professional. They have an artificial stone benchtop (like Essa Stone, etc) which was all ordered through Bunnings. My dad and DH are both very handy so they didn't struggle at all putting the kitchen together. The benchtop had to be installed by professionals though.
We have a full kitchen by Ikea and love it. Shame the shop girl wasn't helpful, we had a guy who went through our plan for over an hour making changes and suggestions to fix things we hadn't thought of so definitely try again. As for bench tops I think they do custom but only up to to certain lengths. We wanted timber and got ours custom made anyway which worked for us. Good luck!!!
Forgot to add that DH is a chippy and it's relatively simple to put together but must be perfectly square so you need to have some idea what you are doing.
Yes, we used the Ikea kitchen cupboards in our laundry. We just bought two tall skinny cabinet frames and one bench height cabinet frame and chose white gloss doors. For the bench top we just got the standard laminate which comes in a premade length. We had to cut it to the size of our cupboard which was pretty easy. You can order custom made stone bench tops from Ikea but IMO they are not worth the $$$, very exxy, we figured for the laundry, laminate will do. They are pretty easy to put together.
ETA: It was a while ago but I think the model of the kitchen cabinets was Faktum (?)
