My DD has bitten her tongue at about 4.30 this arvo- it bled all over the place, but then she was fine.
Even managed some watermelon and chicken chips.
At dinner- she ate nothing and seemed to be in pain.
The cut on her tongue is quite deep- should I go to the DR's?
I had a child very nearly bite then entire end off his tongue at work once, bumped his chin as he was climbing - it was a huge gash and lots of blood. He went to the hospital, they didn't do anything for it - the tongue heals very quickly.
I don't think a trip to the doctor is needed unless it starts bleeding again.
Like Ausgirl said it will heal very quickly. I nearly bit my my tongue off in a car accident when I was 5. It was fused back on and only took 2 weeks to heal completely. You can't even see a scar anymore.
DD1 bit her tongue on Tuesday, only a little bite and a drop og blood. She was very upset when it came to eating. On wednesday night she was really upset, Thursday had temps constantly, slept badly again. Kept asking for vegemite sandwhich but would not eat it and cry. Friday I noticed a mark on her tongue. Made Dr appointment for Sunday morning. She now has mouth ulcers all from biting her tongue. They are very painful so I have to keep the pain relief up and get her to keep drinking water so that her mouth gets flushed regularly since getting a 2.5 year old to salt water gargle is not easy at all.
So long story short, keep an eye on it over the next few days and I would say get her to drink lots of water to keep in her mouth as clean as possible.
