    Baby/Family Photography?

    Hi all

Our 3rd bub is due in April and we would like to get some newborn photos as well as photos of the girls and of us as a family. We did the same with both DD but I cant believe how much prices have gone up!

Have you had a family photography session about 2-3hours+ in your own home? How much did you pay and what was included? I am looking at around $1100 including 45 edited high res images on CD and a Slideshow with music. I think we will then print any pictures ourselves.

I also found out that our wedding photographer has more than doubled his prices in 18 months and is still fully booked. I realise more time is taken with editing and photoshopping images, plus travel and equipment costs but it is almost getting out of our ability to afford it. Im glad I am looking now so we can save a bit towards it.

Have you tried googling photography family/babies in your area, that way you might be able to see what sort of pictures you like online and make a shortlist.

It seems a bit steep 1100 dollars for 45 high res images. What area are you in. I'll see if I know someone and get you a better price than that.

I don't think that's too expensive. 45 images is a lot, and more than most would offer. You get what you pay for though, I would rather pay more and get pics I really really love. So if you love this photographer I would save up for them!

That sounds about right to me for a professional photographer too. We paid similar to that (more I think) for the pics of my pregnancy with DD and her newborn shots on cd.

I shopped around a bit initially but I found that decent photographers charge similar amounts for preggy and newborn shots. It's a bit like wedding pics!
