Itchy and bleeding nose 11days after surgery

My daughter had her tonsils, adenoids removed and a reduction of turbinates 11days ago. The operation went well but the day after we came home I had to rush her to my GP as she couldn't swallow and wasn't eating and drinking. She developed a nasty infection and is now on her second course of antibiotics to clear it up.

Last night she blew her nose for the first time since the reduction of turbinates (they advised to leave it atleast a week without blowing, sneezing, sniffing etc) when she blew her nose there was abit of bright red blood and for the past few days it's been itchy (because of the enlarged turbinates she always had an itchy nose) her nose stopped bleeding the day after surgery and the mucus stopped within 5 or so days.

Has anyone else had this procedure done (I don't think it's common as even the nurse upon checking in for surgery didn't know what it was)

I'm taking her back to GP tomorrow just to make sure she is right to go back to school.

I had my septum straightened and turbinates reduced about 3 months ago and it is perfectly normal to have bloody mucus for a while. Don't let her play with it as it will get worse. I also got and infection early on too and it was horrible.

My surgeon suggested rubbing the bridge of my nose up and down and side to side a couple of times a day. I thought he was nuts but it has made a huge improvement.

Hope your little one recovers swiftly xx
