    Ds has whooping cough

My poor little 7 week old is in hospital with whooping cough. It was just a better to be safe than sorry check as he has no symptoms by my other som has the cough. He has started on antibiotics. Does anyone know if the meds will lessen the severity of the disease or just the spread? Please say a little prayer for him.

Sounds like you got it really early on. I hope he has a very short stay in hospital.

Thinking of you, it must be petrifying.

Thanks meow that thread has given me a little hope! Looks like we will be going home today as Alessio has no breathing difficulties at the moment. I have antibiotics for the whole house to stop spread of the infection. It may take up to three weeks for the cough to develop. Please keep your prayers coming.

Morning ladies. No real progress here. Massimo (ds2) coughed all night it is such an awful sight. Frank (ds1) cough once or twice so it looks like he has it. So far no cough for Luca (ds3) or my beautiful baby Alessio. I can't stop crying every time I look at him. I feel broken.

Oh hun, that's awful Another member went through this recently with her little man. Will see if I can find the thread....

The member was Aussiegirl777 - she may pop in with advice. Her thread was also in the medical conditions section, started on 18 May. I can't link it as I'm on my phone.

Good luck with it all. Praying your little man makes a full recovery

Medications will shorten the amount of time your little one is contagious for, but will probably not lessen the severity of the disease. Good luck - even though deaths from pertussis are thankfully quite rare in this country, the pain and discomfort as well as the lack of sleep can still be very challenging to deal with.
