I'm a bit down in the dumps atm as things are ****ty as dd was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Every medical professional we saw said it was nothing and to not be concerned. So glad I trusted my instincts, because nobody else picked it up. Only sign was slightly uneven creases. She's in a brace now for (hopefully only) 8-12 weeks.

Sorry to hear about Isla. I can't believe everyone told you it was nothing! Good on you for listening to your mummy instincts and getting it checked. Hopefully the brace works quickly and doesn't bother her. If you need to vent about stuff, vent away! I'm sure none of us are having things go perfectly - I'm having a tired day because Annabelle was up every two hours last night. Except she forgot to wake up at 3:30 and kept going til 5 lol.
Are anyone elses boobs still getting bigger? I've got that horrible thing going where they're coming out the top so I've got four boobs lol. Not a good look! I don't know if maybe because Annabelle's demanding/taking more, I'm making more? Either way I reckon I've gotta go get properly fitted, it's getting uncomfortable.
In other news, Annabelle is rolling! She's finally figured out how to get her arm out of the way and get all the way over. She looks so proud of herself when she does it She seems so keen to just keep going on to the next stage though, the rolling doesn't usually get her exactly where she wanted to be, so she pulls on the mat and kicks her legs trying to go forward lol. Usually she ends up spinning around, and she's getting a little frustrated. I think she'll finally be happy when she can crawl, but I'm hoping she doesn't start that too early!
PZ - sorry to hear that Isla have to have a brace. But well done you on noticing and persisting till you got heard! She will thank you for that when she is older.
Kaytee - wow sounds like you do need a new bra! I'm not able to breastfeed, so I don't have that problem, but sounds like a pretty good one to have!
DS2 has rolled twice, both times from his back to his tummy, but it has been a fluke more than anything.
We tried solids - DS2 was super keen and got the idea very quickly. He was opening his mouth really wide and pulling the spoon in! But I don't think the pumpkin agreed with his stomach as we had two very cranky days after that one meal. That was about 5 days ago and I'm going to try pear today I think.
For the bottle feeding mums out there, what bottles are you using and why did you choose them? DS2 gets terrible wind still and spits up a lot and I'm thinking of trying him with a new bottle type. Currently using avent as we were giving some when DS1 was little and needed to be formula fed.
kaytee - i just do home pilates, cant see the reasoning for a gym at their prices. glad the hammock worked and that belley is doing well.
william does raspberries too, showering everything in spit, and the cutest noises ever.
yeh i get a lot of extra top boob in the morning, but after william feeds a few times they are back to normal, so i just deal with it. william still hasnt managed back to front rolling yet, only onto side but can do front to back. coz he can get right up when on his belly so that he has weight on his hands. he kicks around so that he either spins around like a clock face or moves downwards. he is continually getting frustrated at not being able to move around, so i think he will be happier when he can. but then i will have to run after him continuously.
bloom - william tends to sleep for around an hour at a time in the day, occassionally 45mins then also 1.5hours. with 3-4 naps during day.
mm - sorry to hear that hamish isnt tolerating the lactose, hope he gets over it soon so you can enjoy your cuppas again.
pz - sorry to hear about your dd hip dysplasia, but glad you went with your gut and kept on at them about it. so now you can get it fixed earlier rather than later. good luck with the brace.
afm - started trying william on food, but he tends to gag a lot and then swallow. so at least he has the hang of getting food to back of mouth just not tolerating the different texture yet. but always trying to grab stuff off of us to eat and drink, especially loves cups and cans. so i will keep trying him on little bits of rice cereal to see how he goes, and after he has already had a bf.
i had two orientation days last week, so dh stayed home with ds. and the first day he was really good, drank ebm out of sippy cup and then came into hospital at lunch time to have top up of bm. then went home and had a feed again when i got home. next day was only half day, but he did really well and didnt drink ebm but fed when i got home. it was good to leave him with dh so that i now know i can leave him with someone else and he will be fine, even if i miss him heaps.
Bloom- we use Tommee tippee closer to nature. Did with DS1 and they were great, used Aventi with DS2 and thought they were just okay and back to TT with DD. I like the shape of the bottles and the teats also dont get the drip-out-of-the-lid factor that we use to Aventi. The bottles are easy for the LOs to learn to hold too. Sophie is drinking 150-180mls most feeds now, how much is your son drinking? Its great that he has taken to solids so well. Interesting about the pumpkin- I was gonna try that. I've given Sophie alittle bit of egg yolk when its been around and she seems to manage that okay and alittle bit of avacado.
Has anybody else thought about avacado as a 1st food? or is it better to stick to the likes of pear, apple etc.
PZ- how are you going with Islas brace?
Great to hear most of the babes are rolling. Sophie doesnt get much "floor" time, she is mainly in her bouncer chair or in my arms. I must make more of an effort to play on the bed with her so she can try rolling herself. She giggles when I do it for her and loves tummy time, suspect its got to do with all the wind she releases when shes on her tummy- its a tad toxic for the 1st few mins
Bskilner- it awsome you managed to get out for a day or so and so good to know that babe is okay. Think we miss them more then they miss us He drank from a sippy cup! Thats cool.
Might get 1 for Sophie- she is always grabbing my cup and pulling it to her- gotta be so careful and cant hold her at all with any hot drinks.
Hopefully our jumper thingy will get here in the next few days. Sophie is really wanting to be up and moving. she'll be dynamite in the walker when she is old enough- look out big brothers she'll run you down ha ha
had a pretty busy week and weekend DD turned 2 so she was spoilt rotten and had a party saturday
ive had a really bad time with my back ive been put on strong pain killers which werent strong enough so i was in alot of pain and was depressed about it, but went back saturday and the dr tripled my dose and put me on long lasting so still got pain but dont have that horrid stoned feeling
We all had/s gastro over the weekend! im still sick from it
We went car shopping sunday found an awesome 7seater territory hopefully we get approved
DD has become even more a mini mummy now loves pushing bubba around in her dolls pram!
we had a bit of bad weekend Hudson started refusing the boob which had me in tears and i couldnt express very much! so i had to buy some soy formula which made me feel just CRAP but i soon realised he was rejecting the boob or i didnt have enough milk his throat was too sore to suck
so after offering the boob first he needed a small top-up (since saturday he only needed 2 formula bottles as i managed to save up enough EBM ) he now down to just one top-up of EBM a day.
PZ sorry for miss isla hips xoxo but good on you for persisting!
KT yay for belley! my boobs havent gotten bigger but they arent any smaller either
B- wow william on solids already! way to go william
Bloom- my eldest was EBM and loved avent bottles but as the younger 2 were/are BF they only like TT closer to nature bottles
DT she will love the jolly jumper, bubba loves the jumperoo (his still too small for it but loves being able to be upright
PZ I'm glad that Isla is coping ok with the brace. It'll be gone before you know it.
I'm glad everyone else is going pretty well.
We still have lots of wakeups over night and DS2 normally ends up in bed with us from about 1.30 on as I'm too tired to be bothered getting up to him constantly. Daytime sleeps are about an hour with the occasional 1.5hr sleep. Tried giving him a little bit of pumpkin yesterday. He mostly just kept sending it back out with his tounge. So he's not really ready yet. Just had some pumpkin so thought I'd give him a try . Avocado was one of DS1's first foods. He loved it Friend of mine used to mix it in with Ricotta and her bub loved that
Hey Mamas Very quiet in here! I thought I might have missed loads - I've been away from BB, fighting various battles and feeling like a complete and total failure
Bloom, I haven't used bottles but I've been meaning to get a pump so DH can feed DD if he needs to when I'm out getting my hair done or something (although I've only done that once since she was born lol). Have you found that he prefers some bottles over others? I have no idea what I should get, I'm considering just going straight to a sippy cup seeing as she's 5 months now and can sit pretty well.
Lol Bskilner, I can't justify a gym membership fee either. The prices here are ridiculous, it's like because you're in the country and don't have many options they up their prices because you either pay it or don't go. I choose don't go lol.
How cute is the spinning around thing? Annabelle tries to roll to a toy she wants, but when it's still too far in front of her she gets frustrated and tries to scoot forward, which leads to her spinning lol. Her legs stay up in the air at the back, so even though she's got the arms right she's gotta co-ordinate the legs still.
That's great that he's doing well on the solids I still haven't started yet. I think I'll just wait til we move next Wednesday, just too much going on til then. Annabelle's the same as William though, really interested in bottles and cups and things, it's very cute lol. I got my copy of Baby Led Weaning the other day, it's pretty interesting. So I reckon I might just wait til we've moved, and when she's 6 months I'll start putting a few things on her Bumbo tray to have a munch on.
MoT, sorry to hear you guys were all sick! Hope you're all feeling better now. And, good luck getting the Territory! Since Belley's come along I just don't know how anyone with kids ever got by with just a regular sedan or even a hatch lol. Our pram takes up half the space in the back of our Patrol (I don't put it all the way down, too lazy) and then when we go to Christmas we've got all our clothes, bedding, piles of stuff for Belley, and gotta keep a space free for the dog!
Tara, how's the sleeping going? Hopefully things have settled down for you lately. One of the reasons I was feeling so awful was sleep - Annabelle was barely doing two hour stretches overnight for a couple of nights. I realised she was doing her good long feeds overnight, then during the day she wouldn't take any at all - she once went 6 hours without feeding, she rejected me every time and just didn't seem to need it because she'd filled up so much overnight. And then she would nap either. So I slowly started trying to limit how much she had when she woke overnight, and now when she wakes she has a quick feed and goes back to sleep really quickly. If she needs more I don't stop her, but she's getting longer stretches overnight and feeding a bit better during the day at least.
AFM, not much to report I guess. Won't bore you with anymore details of our crappiness the last week or so. We are getting very excited though, moving day is next Wednesday! So we're busy with that, plus DH's birthday is this Wednesday, mine is the 26th, and our 2nd wedding anniversary is on the 28th. Dunno why we decided it'd be a good idea to put that with all the other 'dates' lol. Belley will be 5 months on Wednesday, so I'm going to get her measured and weighed on the way to mothers' group tomorrow. I'm guessing she'll at least be 68cm & 8kgs, she's reached the limit on her 00 clothes that have those measurements on them!
kaytee - the wriggling is cute, he is twisting and turning. dont think it will be long now before he rolls from back to front. goodluck with the move and the weaning. Hope it all goes well. William is doing well with a sippy cup when he feels like it, so it might be a better option for belley plus you wont have to wean her off a bottle.
ive got a lancer and dont have any issues, pram only fills half the boot, and still have two back seats in car.
glad you figured out a way to fix her feeding and sleeping issues, and that you are getting back on track. you are not a failure, quite the opposite. sounds like you are listening to your baby and doing whats in the best interests of you both.
happy birthday for the 26th if i forget later on and good luck with your busy month. william was 60cm and 8.08kg at 5 month appt.
Thanks Bskilner It was most likely just me being so tired, but it's a horrible feeling when it seems like you're doing nothing right. I just had the feeling that it was all my fault she won't nap properly during the day, and we'd got the feeding messed up, and then along comes DH on the weekend, having not spent every single hour with her and he's just so good, it made me feel worse. It was all pretty stupid stuff, but I'm feeling good now after a bit of rest
Only 60cm? Belley was 65cm at 4 months, and now she doesn't really fit in 00 clothes with feet anymore so I reckon she must be above the 68 they say on there. Thankfully she's still good in stuff with no feet
Thanks for the birthday wishes! My family are coming to help us finish moving on that day so there won't be any great celebrations, but I'm looking forward to going out to dinner with them
I had a friend who got by for 18 months with a two door lancer and a baby, I just don't know how she did it! Probably easy really, I've just gotten used to extra space so I'm lazy with how I use it lol.
Yeah I reckon the sippy cup might be the way to go. As you say, I don't want to then have to wean her off a bottle later. Now I've just gotta get a pump! I want to start up a decent stash for when I go back to work in March.
Are you going back to work soon Bskilner? Going in for those couple of days must have been reassuring, at least now you know William is ok for those hours. The longest I've been gone for so far is 3 hours and Belley handled it way better than me lol.
ive got a bit of a stash already in the freezer. and i'll be going back to work in jan, starting with one day a week when dh will be home with him then work up to 2 a week. same i thought he would be bad when i went in for my orientation days, but low and behold he handled it better than me.
Whoa such big bubbas!
a baby that is 2 wweeks younger and born lighter actually weighs more then 3kgs heavier then my bubba now!
we are having a rough time still, im on strong slow release pain relief but its still not enough but least its better then the stoned feeling the last lot of painrelief was giving me
and Bubba has bronchiolitis and his still no better ive got his head/chest raised and a stream vaporiser in his room but his still coughing all night which has been keeping him and us up all night
and DD wont sleep before midnight! no idea why she either plays or crys! we get her up for quiet cuddles and then she happily goes to bed cept last night! and shes only having 9hrs sleep which is horrible as now shes so over tired and such a B***H
DS1 is being good(ish) much better behaviour now weve started more consistant on his discipline
B- back to work! wow,
KT- wishing you lots of luck with moving
weve still currently got a BA ford and before Bubba my boot wasnt too much of a issue but add the 3rd child and my car is like those small clown cars lol
i have a new love in my life a 07 territory GHIA
its a 7 seater but if i want my pram its gotta be a 5 seater lol half defeats the reason we got a 7 seater but oh well
Bubba has mastered pushing himself backwards his so funny to watch, his fast and can turn directions
his personailty is coming out more and more his so cute and funny
his also sleeping better overnight
Its funny when they start moving, especially those backwards sliders, getting further and further away from what they want but they cant figure out why! the little faces are so expressive.
I get behind Sophie and put my hands just behind her feet, so when she pushes she moves forward- 1st few times ended up with face plants and tears but she is getting the hang of it. Doesnt really like the floor, okay on a bed for a small time, loves her jumper!
I have done something controvesial- I have put the walker on the tallest setting and put her in it. she doesnt touch the ground so its like she in her jumper or a sling. It means she can amuse herself alittle with the buttons, music etc while I do some quick housework-dishes etc. She loves it in there but Im very carefull to make sure the breaks are on and Im noever out of sight or leaving her in there very long.
