So, after many many MANY months of looking for a perfect home to buy together (and upsize as we currently live in a size 5 shoebox), after many disappointments and 'the hell with it' attitude when we thought we'd never ever find the perfect home, we finally found it!!!! The bad bit is that we have found an unfinished house which will cost a small fortune to finish, but we fell in love with it and today we've put our offer on it. Pleeeeeeese pleeeeeeeeese say a little prayer for us that the vendor accepts it and wish us lots of luck as we might need it! lol
Thanks girls!! I am very excited but so scared the vendor will say no as we've offered way under what he's asked for. We have already stretched ourselves as it is, and we kept saying to the real estate lady that the house still needs a lot of work. Apparently the guy built it 2 years ago, but then didn't have money to finish it and he went back to China to live. He's only put the house on the market about a month ago. The floors, window coverings & lights need to be put it, the kitchen appliances are missing (dishwasher, stove, range hood), the driveway & front and back garden has to be done. The house is pretty big at around 40 squares so lots of $$ still need to be spent
Ausgirl, the guy is in China so we don't expect an answer for a while, as the offer has to go through the Chinese real estate agent and it could take a week or two. The wait is going to kill me!!!! lol
Hi hun! Thanks for thinking of me lovely I was meant to come and update you all but I forgot The offer got rejected unfortunately We are now looking at perhaps buying a block close by and building a similar house. The only downside is that we'd have to wait another 10 months or so before moving. My DF says that he has a gut feeling that the guy will come back and ask for a bit more than what we've offered, but we have already decided that for around the same money we'll be able to build a house exactly how we like it (the one we've made an offer on was pretty close to perfect but if I was building I'd change a couple of things). Anyway, we'll see!
that the offer got rejected. It's always hard when you feel it's the perfect place, but sounds like you are now dealing with it well and looking forward. At least you now have a good idea of what you like and you've been able to walk through it and know what you'd like to change.
