As the title states I'm looking for some advice on an auto/capsule style coffee machine. I'm thinking of getting my DH one for Christmas but I don't drink coffee at all so really have no idea?
I don't want anything huge and complicated iykwim. It will be mainly used on weekends (by DH) and for guests and some weekdays if DH gets out of bed in time before work. I'm not too worried about the cost of the capsules etc as it won't get huge usage. DH usually drinks a flat white if that is any use as extra info?
I know George Clooney endorses one....if my DH drinks his coffee, will he look more like George?
My Mum, brother, 2 Aunties, SIL and MIL all have the Nespresso DeLonghi Citiz machine. Very simple to use and barely any bits to clean. You can get it with or without the milk frother. Just pop the pod in the top and press the button for either a short or tall coffee. Too easy! If you go for one without the milk frother/warmer, then your DH would just make his coffee by warming his mug of milk in the microwave first, and then add the shot off coffee to it. It just won't have the foamy bit on top.
HTH
We have a nespresso too. Bought it off my mum after she'd had it a week as she wanted one of their more expensive versions (purely for looks!), so we have the base model.
We're not big coffee drinkers so it's good for us because it's easy to use and clean, and we don't have the usual problem of coffee going stale, and having nothing to offer to guests. It got a BIG workout at my baby shower, and so many people commented positively on the taste.
I have a delonghi, but it takes beans instead of capsules.
We drink a LOT of coffee, so the capsules would have worked out to be to expensive.
I love my coffee machine- latte at the push of a button :-)
It really depends on how much you want to spend.
We have the nespresso citiz with the milk frother, as a separate not on the big stand thing they come with. We love it, just had a latte with my dessert.........love it!!! simple, quick, easy and great coffee. Cost us less than $300.
Thanks everyone, sounds like Nespresso is the go I'm tossing up the citiz or pixie with the aerocino frother separate (I can make hot choccies ) just looking around for a good price!!!
We have the citiz with milk (all in one) and I am obsessed with it. Honestly I rate it above my dishwasher, so that's saying something
My tip would be keep an eye out around Mother's and Father's Day as they usually do a cashback deal of $50. Doesn't help you for Xmas though, sorry!
My parents got one of those coffee machines after seeing the TV Coffee ad (Google it), where you get a 'free' coffee machine when you buy x amount of Lavazza capsules. It works quickly, the coffee tastes pretty damn good, and my parents have worked out how to bang out 4 coffees in much less time than it would take to get a latte at a cafe. So far, it's a winner
Also a Nespresso citiz owner here. I am in love with my "nessarose". I use the milk frother on the cold setting to make DD a Baby chino, and we have an afternoon coffee together
I also think it has enhanced my social life... A lot more friends seem to come over for coffee now the coffee machine is here hmmm
interested to see how the aldi's one goes, much cheaper then the nesspresso, even for pods. thinking about buying some pods to see if they'll fit the nespresso machine.
But i do love my nespresso machine, i have the citiz with milk, so so easy
