    Starving?

Baby has a throat infection and cough. Went to Dr yesterday and got antibiotics which we are managing to get into her but thats it. Today, all day she has drunk just 250mls! And that was over a few goes. A normal bottle amount for her is 150-180mls. I have changed 1 nappy today. She isnt floppy or grumpy (much) she is pretty much her normal self- just wont drink. She must be so hungry! We gave her some Tylernol incase her throat is too sore to drink much but that hasnt helped (DS2 has the same thing and is saying his throat is too sore to eat)
How long before it becomes an issue? When should we consider going back to the dr? She is a chubby baby so a day or 2 without milk will thin her out a bit but not too much problem really with weight. (shes about 8kg at almost 5mths)

Advise please ladies. We are starting to mildly panic about her not eating

I'd give it until tomorrow, noting when she drank & how much & nappy output. Sounds like it must hurt for her to drink & if she has a throat infection, it might have gone to her ears, which would be extremely painful. If you are concerned, called Nurse on Call & speak to them, I found them to be really helpful & they will guide you what to do & when

when DD had tonsilitis at about the same age, she was only drinking 50ml every 4 hours during the day, and refusing anything over night....
i freaked out thinking she was going to be dehydrated but when i took her to the dr, they said she was fine.... i didnt believe them mind u

i took to mixing milk into custard powder (the heinz baby organic one) and into mushy veg, she wouldnt take anything with a hint of a lump so i was getting a extra 100ml in per day doing that....

it took DD probably 48hours after starting her antibiotics to start drinking a bit more....

    hope she feels better soon!

Giving a bath can help hydrate her a little. Also try offering a wet facewasher to suck on to give a bit more fluids.

    hope she feels better soon.

If she's not too grumpy or flat than it sounds like she is coping pretty well so far. But keep an eye on how many wet nappies she is making - if it starts to drop off too much, you should consider taking her to hospital.

Just did a sneaky dream feed and she took 120mls, so hopefully can get a few more of those in her tonight
