    Things to do with mangoes

We just bought 16 mangoes for $10! I've got an alcohol sorbet type recipe, and we're also gonna make some icy poles, but I was wondering if anyone else has mango recipes, pref savory?

Mango salsa apparently goes really well with salads and lamb.

Cut mango in a salad. Or put it in sweet style stir fries.

Not savoury but I can't beat mango cheesecake...

You can always peel and slice and freeze mango for another day. Good for smoothies!

I like mango cheeks cut like you're going to cut off the dice (you know in the criss cross pattern?), sprinkled with brown sugar and them BBQed cut side down.....awesome with BBQed salmon.

Mango & prawn salad! Yummo. Or, I freeze lemonade into ice cubes so that I can throw them into a blender with mango and blitz it until it is smooth. Delicious.

When I was 41 weeks pregnant, my mum and I bought a tray and made 8 jars of mango chutney, just for something to do!

It went something like this (quantities are unknown)

Get a big pot. Chuck in all your diced mango. Add vinegar, sugar, lemongrass, basil and chilli. Boil for some time. Put it in jars while it's still hot and screw the lids on to vacuum seal.

I gave most of it way, but I have one jar in the fridge and it's still good. Over cream cheese it makes an amazing dip; also, mix with chopped sweet potato and wrap in puff pastry for super impressive tangy vegie puffs.

Slice them up and freeze them for when mangoes aren't in season

Or do things with them that belong in the AO thread

but, I love just eating them, puting them in the fridge and have them cold with icecream, or even frozen yogurt, I LOVE chewing on the seed after too, yea it gets stuck in your teeth and I have to have a shower after i enjoy one (cause i'm a grub) but sooooo damn good!!! mmm

Thanks for your help ladies Today's the big mango prep day! I've got a bunch of plastic containers and I'm gonna make a couple of batches of Mango Vodka Ice, some mango icypoles, a couple of batches of blended and frozen mango for sweet treats, and then cut up and prepare the rest into ziplock bags, 1 mango per bag, for future use in anything. Yay!
