did anyone get a cold during their 2WW (ivf) and stilll get a BFP?

    Hi!

I was wondering if anyone could please give me some advice or knowledge (all will be appreciated!) on getting sick with the cold (bad case of the cold..coughing,sneezing..no fever) during the 2ww and if this will effect my results in the end?

All was going well with my ivf cycle and then of course on the day of transfer i must of picked up a bug! its been 4dpt and i am feeling better but unfortunately the first few days after transfer (the most important?!?) i was an absolute mess! and the worse thing is i had shocking insomnia so as you can imagine my immune system was extremely low

Has anyone been through this or similar and still got their BFP??

    Thank you in advance!
    xoxo

Positive, after my transfer that very night I was sooooooooooo sick. I think it was a reaction to all the drugs my body had as I had a similar reaction after the cycle prior. I was so unwell I thought I might need to go to hospital.
Just rest, keep up your fluids & nutrition as best you can & acupuncture if possible.
Our lil embyie was just fine
Best of luck with the TWW. Get into a great tv series to take your mind off of it x

    that's reassuring Bex

positive - I too have been sick, and worried the impact it may have on my little blob - the first week - during my EPU and ET I was so sick I was glad to have the days off work!! my blood test is wednesday this week, so we'll see what happens - although AF arrived last night with a vengence, so I think I'm out - but it was a great question, as it's so helpful to have the positive stories to read over and over

    we live in hope

    Good luck!!

Hi myturn, I have three kids and with every single one of them I had a nasty, nasty cold before my BFP (started 5 or 6 days after conception). With my last bub, I took that cold as a sign that I was UTD! I didn't have IVF, hope you don't mind me butting in! Good luck, I hope that BFP is waiting for you. x

Yes, I had a cold and was thinking of deferring my transfer. I remember coughing a lot and my FS told me I couldn't take cough medicine, so it wasn;t a mild cold. Well I"m glad I didn't defer my transfer!!!

    Hi hun,

If it is any consolation, although I did not have a cold... 2 days after transfer I was so violently ill that I didn't even care about my chances I just wanted to feel better. I had it coming from both ends and it was so not good .

I thought my chances were all over and wrote the cycle off (I didn't even POAS) and low and behold I got my BFP! Afterwards, I had a really bad sinus cold (felt just horrible) from 4w2d which lasted for over 2 weeks and bubs is doing just fine .

Hope this makes you feel a bit better and lots and lots of for you .

Positive, The day before my ET I contracted bad food poisoning, I had fevers, shakes, diarrhea- you name it! I was soooo sick just after ET and thought we had no chance!

My dd from that cycle is now 11 months old and fighting her afternoon nap!!

Best of luck for your test next week!

    Hi Positive,

For my sixth transfer I was so sick I had to sit up with a nurse holding a cup of water with a straw to my mouth to try and help me not cough - and I sat up for the half hour rest after the transfer. My BFP is 9 months old and having a nap in the next room. If anything, your body is les likley to reject the embryo as it's so busy fighting off the cold - GL and FX

Yep I got sick as well after my transfers and I also had a UTI so had to take antibiotics as well and got my BFP.

I have heard somewhere that having your immune system low means your body trys to fight the cold or whatever and not the embryo trying to implant, don't know if this is actually true but there seem to be a lot of BFP's when people are sick .

Here's hoping you are one of those as well.

I didnt, but a girl i work with had a bad bad cold the day of transfer on her first IVF cycle, and Gab Kovacs did the transfer, he's really high up at monash, and he told her it made absolutely no difference. She got a BFP and is due in feb! Good luck sweetie.
