8 days overdue, anyone had induced VBAC?

ok so today I am 8 days overdue, I know my dates are correct as we were moving house and had sex the last night we were in our old house and I got my BFP ten days later, always have 28 day cycle. Also baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead at my 36 weeks growth scan, so I don't think it needs to grow anymore! I want my VBAC not only for me but as my partner now only has 10 more days off work and a c section would be so hard to deal with as I have a 2 year old this time round and not on good terms with my mother and have no other family besides MIL and SIL who live 2 hours away. Goin to ob this arvo and want to ask for an induction as my pelvis is so sore, have horrible hemis down south! and can barely breathe and walk not to mention my mental state is starting to get a hit, I have lost faith this will happen. Do some women just NOT dialate? I was a failed induction with fetal distress last time so have never had a spontaneous labour, have had no show and no "real" contractions. So anyone here have an induced vbac, how was it done? I would only want to try the cervical catheter and AROM. If you did have one was it successful? thankyou, i'm clutching at straws here!

Perhaps ask for a stretch & sweep? My friend is also 8 days over and she had this yesterday. It seems to have ramped things up a little for her. I hope your bubba makes his or her entrance real soon and that you get your much wanted VBAC. All the best hun

ETA - She is actually in labour now and on her way to have her bub! Definitely try the S&S hun

A close friend of mine had a sucessful induced VBAC a week ago. She was started with the gel than onto the Synto.

Have you tried any of methods to start labour? ie Accupuncture/Accupressure, Sex/Orgasm? Is there anything you need to "let out"? ie Any fears or anxieties about the birth?

thanks guys, I will ask for a S&S this arvo, tried most natural induction methods except sex coz I am so sore down there! and yeah I am very stressed about other things which I know can affect hormones involved with going into labour but I just can't seem to relax!

Unfortunately the stats show that there is a higher rate of cesarean for woman who are induced. If you really want your VBAC I would wait for it to happen naturally. 8 Days over isn't that much. I was 10-11 days over and had no BH, no real show as such until the morning I went into labour, there was nothing to suggest labour was even close but when it happened it was quick (3.5hrs) and natural. We didn't want to try anything to get bub out either, we wanted it to all happen naturally besides things like scrubbing floors or sex would have been way too uncomfortable! As it turned out his timing was perfect

Someone having a VBAC would not have Prostin gel as it is contraindicated for any previous uterine surgery.

Generally speaking, most obs will go straight to repeat CS rather than use induction, as there is a significantly increased uterine rupture risk due to the previous surgery and the force of the contractions brought on by the drugs.

Your best bet if you WANT the VBAC is to ride it out, maybe a S&S, but you want to go naturally. You will have much greater chance of achieving a VBAC by going naturally.

My ob broke my waters with dd2, but that was all he would do as Limeslice said due to the risks. I was lucky enough to get the vbac, but everything progressed quickly once my waters broke, she was born 40 minutes afterwards.

just got back and my cervix is still shut but he said he could feel the head and bub is totally engaged after having a portable scan, I am booked in tomorrow arvo to give the cervical catheter method a go overnight and then try to rupture waters friday morning and if that doesn't work he said I could go home and wait a few more days. hopefully something happens before then anyway! thanks guys

They are going to let you go home for a few days after ROM?? Where are you birthing? That is very unusual.

That's great that you have a patient OB, who is not watching the calendar
I had a VE at 41 weeks, bub not engaged & cervix very high & tight. I went into labour three days later at 10 days postdates. Hang in there! things can change very quickly. Wishing you the best.

Not sure but think the OP meant if AROM did not work & her membranes did not rupture, she could go home?

yeah sorry guys I meant if i wasn't able to get my waters broken I could go home, once it is I can't leave until I have my baby one way or another! will go in overnight so induction technically doesn't start until tomorrow morning on day 10 so still got another 24 hrs for things to happen on their own. I am not too fussed either way
