How to take care of your teeth during morning sickness

I saw a dentist this morning and he explained to me the best way to care for your teeth during morning sickness. I just thought I'd share because I had no idea for my first pregnancy even though I asked a bunch of people!

Straight after you vomit you should never brush your teeth because it softens the enamel and brushing with damage it.

Instead, you should swill your mouth with bicarb and water - this stabilises the acid level inside your mouth to left your saliva strengthen up the enamel again.

Then you can gargle a mouthwash with fluoride - then as your enamel is hardening again it will incorporate some fluoride making the enamel stronger for the next time - which could be in 10 minutes lol.

Hope I wasn't the only person in the world who didn't know this lol xx

    I didn't know that, thanks!!

I actually find brushing my teeth a real issue when I have m/s, because anything rubbing my teeth/gums/tongue make me projectile!!

Yes the tooth mousse is great, and the same company, Recaldent, makes chewing gum with that same active ingredient in it. I used both of these for a bit (after chemo I had major issues with my teeth) and one day I suddenly noticed that my teeth felt smooth and hard again - I had forgotten that's what they're supposed to feel like!
