Smile Very first +ve OPK - How long should I BD for?

    Hey girls,

I HAD to jump on here because I am sooo super excited! I've been using OPK's for 2 months after having problems with my cycles since coming off the pill last December and having an early M/C in March. Tonight I have gotten my very first +ve OPK result using 2 different brands (Internet cheapies and Forelife).

So now that I have my +ve OPK any tips on how long and when I should DTD? Should I try tonight, tomorrow morning and then the next night or just stick with tonight and tomorrow night or just tonight and tomorrow morning? As far as I understand you get a +ve around 24 hours BEFORE you actually O. Is this correct?

To tell you the truth I won't be too disappointed if I don't fall pg this month but getting a +ve OPK is just as good as a +ve pg test for me It's such sweet relief to know I'm Oing!!!

This has been the longest year waiting for my cycle to regulate enough to actually ovulate this is the BEST early Christmas present ever

Yes you will likely ovulate in 24-36 hours, and the egg is viable for up to 12 hours (24 at the extreme) after ovulation. So potentially your egg is viable another 2.5 days. So long as there are no sperm issues, then get at it as much as you can! Just don't wear out so fast that you miss BD at the time of ovulation.

I remember posting the exact same post earlier this year!
I would BD tonight, tomorrow night and then the next night, just to cover all bases. Good luck!

    Thanks your for replies ladies!

Well we'll BD as much as possible during the next couple of days. It's very exciting for me but again I won't be so disappointed if this isn't my month to get a +ve pg test just SO happy about my OPK result so far

Hey ladies. I've been experiencing what I assume are ovulation pains for the last few days. Yesterday I was having pinching pains coming from my right hip. It lasted for a couple hours and then went away. This afternoon since 3pm I've been feeling some very light cramping or pressure but this time it's more centered and it's causing some lower back pain. I'm not in major pain nothing enough to make me need to take pain tablets for but it's becoming stronger as the afternoon has progressed.

I'm currently on CD 29. I got +ve OPKs on CD 27 and 28 and today my OPK was -ve.

I'm just a little bit confused as to why I'm getting a -ve OPK today and this the day that I've felt the O pains most. What do you think that my body is doing right now? Am I actually Oing now or would I have O'd yesterday and these are just after effects?

Just for background information I've been having long cycles for the past few months so Oing now wouldn't be so strange. This is the first month this has happened to me though so I'm a bit puzzled as to what I am supposed to be feeling.

You likely ovulated today... and the LH surge occurs BEFORE ovulation and will quickly go negative again. Most women have a negative OPK on O day.

Oh I third that. So nice to read it clear and understandable about how the +ve and -ve's are expected.

Thank you Maruschke and thank you Starz for posting the question!

    Hi ladies,

Ive gotten a pregnyl injection on Monday and DR told me to DTD on the night before which is Saturday and Sunday and DTD that Monday after the shot. We also DTD on Tuesday just to cover it. I do understnd that pregnyl (hcg) injection makes you ovulate 36hours after.

Do you girls think I made it this month? I ask DR and he said just to DTD on Monday after the injection and Saturday and Sunday is fine. I sounds confident and Im not to sure to take his words....

Sounds good to me SamKeat, my FS told me to dtd every second day when I was taking clomid. And I just got a +opk on Monday so we dtd Mon, Tues and tonight we will too, just to cover it
From what i have heard it is better to have sperm waiting inside for the egg rather than have the egg almost down the fallopian tube before it meets the sperm. But i could be wrong!
    Feel free to correct me
