Smile Success story on pregnyl or any hgc trigger shot

    Hi All.

This month is my first month on Pregnyl shot. On CD day 15 I was given a Pregnyl shot and DR ask us to BD 2 days continously before the shot and on the day of the shot. We also bd the following day.

Its been 4dpo today and feel nausea every morning i wake up or whenever i walked fast.

I just want to hear any successful story on anyone who took this shot and got a BFP just to keep me motivated in the tww.

I hope to hear all the wonderful stories here

    Check out my ticker!

I had a 5000mg pregnyl trigger, and we DTD that night and the next night. Not sure if we did a morning either in between or on the third day.

One of the downsides is that you will have pregnancy symptoms from the pregnyl shot. Also, try to so resist the urge to POAS because it will come up positive, whether you actually are pregnant or not.

Good luck. I hope you get a lovely BFP in another week or so.

Hi Lulu...Was that your first time taking the shot and got BFP on that same month? I hope what the DR told me was correct on the bd timing.

Yep - first time. I was very, very lucky although my problem is not getting pregnant but getting a bub to stick.

There seem to be differing views on how often you should DTD around ovulation, but my FS's recommendation was day of shot, day after and if we felt like it, the day after that too. I was also told that ovulation would occur within 12 to 24 hours of the pregnyl, so your Dr's recommendation of the day before sounds fine to me.

My IVF clinic always gets patients to trigger exactly 36 hours before egg pickup (which would be the equivalent of bd-ing).

    Hope this helps!

    Good luck

come to think of it, I ovulated really early this cycle and it caught everyone a bit off guard - went in for the scan and blood test to see how follicles were growing and got a very surprised call from the nurse saying I was already surging, so maybe that's why I was only told 12 - 24 hours until o'ing?

SamKeat - I'm sure your guy has told you the right thing - especially seeing as N2L says the same thing.

Samkeat, I have just started on the same thing but only 1500 ul. but for same reason as LuluHB... to make my bub stick. I haven't had trouble conceiving, just with miscarriages and my ob started me on this at 4 weeks pregnant and wants me to keep doing them until I reach 12 weeks... I have only just started them...

Anyone else find them expensive??? Anyone know if you can bring your receipt to Medicare and get anything back?

    Hi...

Im not to sure on medicare but medibank allows you to refund them on medication such as pregnyl.

Mine has been used for O and having nipple soring up. Not to sure if this is a good sign or just the side effect on it.

2ww is dreadful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna know if i get BFPPPPPPP......

    Hows ures doing?

Silver Bell - I found I paid really inconsistent amounts for them. First purchases from the chemist cost $20 per vial. Due to the shortage I had to get all the rest (I did the first 12 weeks too) from the clinic, and they started charging me $20 per vial and then everything from $17 odd to about $12.50 per vial. I was told there was no rebate on them, either private or Medicare so haven't tried - annoying given what SamKeat has said cos I've got top cover with medibank private so maybe they are claimable? Will have to find out. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Hang in there SamKeat. The TWW is bad enough but when you feel pregnant and don't know if its the drugs or the real thing its even worse. Crossing everything for you.

yeah I think its worth a try to see if private or medicare give a rebate.... I will try both my private cover and medicare... worth a shot... for 10 weeks worth (they told me they have a shortage as well) and worse thing is I had to buy the 5000 ampule because they ran out of the 1500 ones, so I have to throw away the rest after each shot and it cost me just over 460 bucks! and I still have to buy another 2 weeks worth.... hey if they work I wont care....

I hate the fact you can't monitor how you are going when on hcg, usually they monitor if your hcg is doubling every 48 hours... obviously it would be increasing... you just dont know now...

I have my for a SamKeat

You're getting two shots out of each ampule though aren't you? I was on the 1500s during my tww and had the same issue, but got two shots out of each one - still waste a ridiculous amount but better than nothing. If they haven't showed you how to measure out two doses then get them to do it - will save you a little $$ at least.

I found that frustrating with levels too - I ended up with an hcg of 340,000 odd at 8 weeks. Crazy.

no I am only getting one shot out of it... which sucks... the chemist, my ob and GP told me they can't store it once open and they need to throw the rest away??? how did you get two shots out of it??

I was having shots I think every third day, so I would draw out two doses in a separate syringe each from the new ampule. One was used immediately and the other was kept in the fridge with the needle cover on to keep it sterile. It was the clinic that told me to do this so I'd be surprised if its not the right thing to do. Maybe they're thinking you can't just store it in the open ampule, which is obviously exposed to air etc once you've broken the top off? Might be worth asking again if you can do the above. I guess they could say not to do it as a "cover their butts" exercise - just in case someone doesn't keep it sterile or something?

Like you said though, its a pretty small price to pay for a sticky bub

    Hi girls,

So Im guessing you guys are getting several shots to make the bub sticky....

Im wondering how come my DR did not recommend me those but only gave me 1 5000 pregnyl shot at CD15 to make me ovulate and ask me to BD that night and the previous 2 night and thats about it. He did not say anything else and he sound confident

Nothing much going on today at 6DPO but bbs starting to sore but thats normal before AF comes. Its abit sore on nipples which is abit different. Thats about it.

    2ww dreading meeee.....

I had the 5000iu trigger for ovulation, then 1500iu shots every I think 3 days during the tww, and then once I got my BFP I had a 5000iu shot every Tuesday and Friday until 12 weeks. Also was taking progesterone tablets and asprin too so I got the whole package! I have a pretty bad history of unsticky bubs though - this is pg #10 for me - so that's why I got the lot. I'm also 41 and had decided that given my age and the 4 mcs I'd already had this year that I was only going to try 3 cycles before giving it away, so I think my FS (who is also my OB) was keen to maybe go a little more overboard than may have been required to help things along.

I guess it all depends on why you had the trigger shot in the first place as to what follow up meds you might need

wow well that would be a hell of a lot easier having the 5000iu twice a week for me instead of 1500iu 3 times a week... considering they are the ones that were sold to me... not only is it a waste but I wonder why I just can't have the whole 5000iu just less of them?
