    Intuition and pregnancy

    Hi all,

Am currently aiming for a VBAC, but I have this niggling feeling that for some reason I need to have a C-section. Not sure how much of it is just fear and how much is my body telling me something. I believe that VBACs are good and in normal circumstances are best for the baby and mum, so it's weird that I feel like this.

Have you or anyone you know ever experienced anything like this? What happened?

    TIA

Hmm... I'm not sure whether it was intuition or the power of positive (or negative) thought, but I "felt" I would fall pregnant quickly (I did), I "felt" I was having a boy (I did), I "felt" I would go early (I did) and I "felt" I'd have a good labour (I did), but I also had that niggling feeling that I'd find breastfeeding challenging (and I did, even though I've been trying as hard as I can to make it work). So, not sure if that answers your question, but I do believe there's such a thing as intuition about these things.

Don't know Lee.... but interesting thread. I am planning a vbac too, and I think it is really normal to have your doubts. I think that it is really important to listen to your intuition when in labour. a gf of mine was planning a hbac and "felt" something was wrong and it turned out she had a bendles ring. So she needed a c/s.

I suppose you could ask urself if you are a pessimist. My DH always thinks he can't do things and actually he can, so if he worries about stuff now I completely ignore him/encourage him. What kind of person are you??

After that I guess you just plan what you can for a vbac and make sure you feel safe and then see what happens.

    Thanks Bella,

    I'm def a pessimist!

Did your friend get diagnosed with the ring or did she just insist on a c/s?

I think the power of thought can be quite strong and confused with intuition. If you are honest with yourself and how you feel then that is intuition speaking though ITMS.
If you have the slightest doubt in your body's ability and the strength of your scar then its fear that your feeling.

That said there are other factors thatcan lead to C-sections as well .. like baby in distress etc. thats neither intuition nor fear thats just "out of your control"

I think you should honestly write yourself a pro feeling and a con feeling list by that I mean no trying to trick yourself if you're scared of trying for a vbac then that needs to be recognised and then you need to work out why. Then discuss this with your care givers honestly, don't try to be brave for the sake of saving face if that makes sense. If you feel deep deep within that you are more comfortable with a section then just do what feels the most comfortable for you.
