    Dehydrated?

How often should an 8mth old wee? Yesterday I changed her nappy twice and they were dry when they should have been wet with at least one wee.

This morning she's been naked since 7ish (and it's now 8:25) and nothing. She's feeding normal, has a bit of a cough and sounds like she's sick when she's whingy, but otherwise fine.

    Is this normal?

I suppose it depends on her fluid intake. How much fluid has she had.
Maybe record her fluid intakecand when she has wet nappies. If she's not taking fluids then I would be concerned.

Sometimes their wee's can be so minimal that it is hard to tell if there is actually anything there... I was advised that 8 hours without urination is classified as dehydration for a baby and they should be checked out. But if they are dehydrated you should also be getting other signs - lethargy, sunken fontanelle, dry mouth etc.

The best advice I was given was to fold up a tissue and pop it in the nappy. If they wee even a tiny bit you will be able to tell from the tissue even if the nappy appears dry - was definately a stress saver for me on a few occassions.
