What gifts do you get for your LO to give?

I think it is really important for DS to learn the joy of giving gifts, not just receiving. Last Christmas I bought a heap of photo frames and put some of his paintings in them, so that he gave everyone a piece of his artwork. Family loved it, it was a real hit!

But this year I don't have any good ideas... I don't think I can do the artwork thing again, so was thinking of just buying little things for everyone (around $10), but everything I come across is junk, and he's still a little bit too little to choose gifts.

So do you have any great ideas for a toddler to give to family members?

We hand make things. Last year we made place mats - paper with name in glitter, an old Xmas card and a hand print laminated and a wheat bag...
This year we are making little cushions, calico one side that the kids will draw on and a patterned reverse side.
I totally taught myself, I am as uncrafty as they come and still draw stick men!

I found this great as we made them over a few weeks (a bit each day) and it was exciting to create them together

    We also painted
Paper and used that as wrapping paper too!

This year the girls have made salt dough ornaments, they paint them themselves and will be giving these to their cousins, they have done the letter of that childs name.
For adults we normally do our favorite photo's from that year.
I am thinking though of doing salt dough ornaments with a handprint on them and a photo glued to the back!

If your looking for something to purchase maybe x-mas cookies, chocolates - for kids you can buy cute barbie type dolls from k-mart for cheap, match box cars, pencils etc.

Ooooh the photo gifts are a good idea - will definately have to look into them. And I like the crafty ideas, I'm just not that crafty, and worry DS is a bit too little (read between the lines - lots of mess). Mind you, it could be lots of fun! Might have to suss out the local art shop. Thanks Ladies!

Love this idea! I was just reading the shortbread thread thinking I'd love to make some, but I'll just eat it all - now I have an excuse. We can buy some nice little bags and decorations to do them up. LOVE IT!
