    Question Bleeding after GONAL-f injection?

    Good morning,

Okay, this was my first time injecting myself, first ivf cycle. The first injection of 100 IU went fine (in my stomach) I then had to do another dose of 100 IU with another pen. Once injected I pulled the needle from my skin and I bled slightly and bruised.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? I think it may have happened because I twisted the needle slightly when it was in my skin.

Starting ivf on the day of my nans funeral has my nerves shot. Ugh.

    Thanx ladies x

Hi there. When I had GD I was injecting insulin and it depends where you do the injection - some spots hit a blood vessel and they will bleed.

I wish you all the best with your IVF xx

If you are concerned, then call your IVF nurse, thats what they are there for... my experience though, if I hit a 'sensitive' spot, I had a little bruising. If I wasn't steady or went in at the wrong angel, a small spot of blood did appear.

Call your clinic and they will set your mind at ease!

Renee - wow your first IVF cycle - my best wishes

My tummy always looked like I had done ten rounds with Mike Tyson, bruises and bleeding, nothing to worry about there.

    Good Luck Renee

Yep, I've had a bit of blood from IVF jabs, just depends on how still you are while the needles in, and where you jab, completely normal. I end up looking like a pin cushion by the end

Like the other girls have said, it's very normal to bleed a little and bruise up. I ended up only injecting on the right side of my tummy because every time I did the injections on the left I always managed to bruise myself. I once somehow managed to get a golf sized bruise from that tiny needle! It also seemed to be a little more painful if I did it on the left, but it was probably all in my head, lol.

Best of luck with your first cycle! I hope it's your lucky cycle

Oh, if I ever started to bleed a little I very quickly held my finger over the tiny hole to stop any further bleeding to make sure that none of the drug seeped out with the blood. Probably makes no difference, but it made me feel better.

Pregpan - Thank you! It's was such a pleasure to see your name pop up. It seems like a life time ago we were sharing our magical 1st pregnancy together. I hope you are keeping well x

Art - so nice to see you too. Thank you for the advice x

Thank you to everyone else also. You really helped put my mind at ease.

Egg collection was yesterday, 16 eggs (no wonder I felt like I was going to explode) and 12 eggs fertilized. So I'm thrilled with the results so far :-)

    Thanx again ladies x
