    Vaginismus and Botox

    Hi,
Haven't been on here for so long as went through IVF to have baby and now have a very healthy 8 month old boy
Anyway it is time to sort my vaginismus again and the dr is keen for me to see specialist and get botox as nothing else has worked. I am just not confident that the specialist where I live are the best to be doing this as they have never done it before and am keen to hear other peoples stories. Thanks

I don't have vaginismus but I do have vulvodynia so I know to some extent where you are coming from.

Please be aware that botox can alter the function of the bladder so be prepaired to self cath if you decide to go ahead.

I assume you have tried diolators and internal physio with biofeedback? What about vaginal valium to relax the pelvic floor?

Also if botox is done inccorectly it can make things much much worse. It is a fairly new treatment and I decided against it for this reason.

If I can be of any further help please let me know.

I have tried lots of different things. Dialators, physio to work on pelvic floor etc. never heard of vaginal valium but?! Im at the point where it is affecting our marriage so extreme measures need to be taken i guess.

    Vaginal Valium

This isn't in Australia yet. You would have to get a compounding pharmacy to make it up. An alternative to this is to get a valium tablet (not diazapam cos it won't melt properly) I would start at 2mg and then work up to 10mg should this have no effect. You inseart it to about your 2nd nuckle. This will help soften the muscle spazm prior to sex. Worth a shot. Hopefully you have an understanding doc.

I would be wary of letting someone that has not done this before do it. It's a very delicate business.

Good luck! I know how frustrating pain and muscle smazm down there can be! xxx
