Question Simple recipes that use measurements.

I just got DS1's report card. He has an aptitude for maths and did quite well but one of the areas that let him down was units and measurements. His teachers have suggested that over the holidays he does some cooking to help him grasp the concepts a bit better.
So I'm on the hunt for recipes that we can cook that involved a bit of measuring and weighing.
I know that sweet recipes are generally full of measurements but I prefer not to cook too many sweets because then we have to eat them.
Soooo..... I'm hoping that I can pick your brains for suggestions of savoury recipes that involve measuring and weighing that are also simple enough for a 7 year old to make without a great deal of assistance.
Also any recipe books, websites, blogs etc that might be relevant.

    Thank-you

A great selection of recipes from savoury to sweet dishes from Kids Friendly New Zealand digital magazine

These are basic but good. There is a fair mix of savory in with the sweet.

    Bit of a quick google:

There's a book on amazon for like $10 called The Math Chef. Judging by the absence of the 's' on the end of math, it may be American though.

I had a really hard time with maths in secondary and primary school, and cooking was the absolute best way I could have learned and built my skills, it really worked in helping me retain the info...and the food was yum. My mum just used the Nursing Mothers Cookbook, all the recipe are so child friendly and simple. I ended up buying my own copy when it was reprinted.

Steering away from the food side of recipes, you could do playdough, goop, type things - there is a fair element of measuring with those.

What about salt dough? It's very basic, maybe too much so but might be a good starting point?

I use 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 a cup of water or you can do 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup salt.

Then you get to play with it after

ETA - just thought, you could also use it for measurements, like get him to cut 1cm pieces etc?
