Sippy Cups With Straws: do you dismantle before you put in dishwasher

OK, so I think the thread title says it all. DP keeps dismantling them when he puts them in the dishwasher (ie. pulling out the straw). The straw may or may not end up in the same load of dishes.

This drives me completely insane trying to find the straw and put it back together whilst trying to just get a whingy DD2 a drink. Yes, we have more than one sippy cup but a lot have straws.

Am I just odd that I don't see the need to dismantle them each and every time?
