Earlier this year my family was shocked to learn about my brothers drug and alcohol addiction which lead him to want to kill himself. He was in hospital for a month and will have a mental disability for the rest of his life.
For months after i found it hard to talk to him, he was distant and at times he had random outbursts. It was heartbreaking to see
But lately hes become quite attached to me, always coming over and wanting to go shopping. I haven't had a problem as its what we used to do when i was a teenager.
2 weeks ago we went christmas shopping with my mum and during shopping he asked if he could take DD to toys r us to pick out her christmas present from him. At first i was hesitant but i let him go. For 20 mins i was shakey and worried and eventually made my mum come with me to see if they were ok. When we got there he was playing with her she was laughing while hugging a teddy that he said she picked. He has since become very attached to her which i think is adorable.
But the sweetest thing was today he called me and asked to come over as he wanted to play with her. They played with her blocks and built things then when he had to go home she cuddled him for 10 mins. He looked like the proudest uncle and my heart melted.
Sounds like your brother is really trying to get his life together. If being a part of your family makes him feel secure then that is a good thing. Miss K can spread her love around and her uncle probably needs it. Sounds gorgeous LMS
The unconditional love and joy that your little girl is giving your brother is healing him. I am so happy to hear that your brother is getting better and your rebuilding your relationship.
