urgh, SIL took DD out for the day. Both had a great day. I had a productive day at home. BUT, getting her to bed tonight is just painful. It happens almost every time, i don't know if getting a day is off is worth the hassle.
I feel the same here about sleepovers. It's lovely when the kids go to sleep over at either grandparents house as I get an unbroken nights sleep. But they have horrid sleeps the night after they get home (worse than usual) that it takes me a few days to recover.
I just focus on how much I enjoyed my full nights sleep and make sure I do something nice for myself so I can look back on that when I'm up repeatedly overnight.
i think if it's an unusual thing, it can be downright painful to get your "normal" back. DD spends one day a week with Granma, and after several weeks of thinking "why am i doing this" she's actually fallen into a routine with that day too, and her sleep isn't impacted by it any more. to be honest, it's more difficult to get her to sleep at the end of the week if she DOESN'T have that day out! she knows mummy works a few days, then she has a day with granma, then mummy is home - if she doesn't get the day with granma between mummy working and mummy being home, she is all messed up
she also had her first sleep over last month and we had zip problems afterwards (which shocked me BIG TIME!)
Is it super-regular for you? Or is it a once every few weeks thing?
If you know it's coming and it's only a few times a year, make the night special. Liebs and I stay up late and watch films in my bed sometimes, it's a bit of fun and means I get to be the "fun" adult once in a while too.
