    Moving to a big bed

When do u know if there ready to move out of a cot into a bed? We tried moving dd into one tonight but was met with a few tears. We ended up turning the cot back around to face the wall (we kept one side of the coy up)

We knew when DD would protest to get into the cot. Even in her sleep. She'd go rigid as soon as we would walk into her room and try to put her into the cot. Once we removed the cot rails, she relaxed and willingly went to bed.

I have just moved ds at 16 months, he is a climber he can get up on the table, up cupboards and he is working out how to get out of trolleys so for his own safety he is in a toddler bed. He was going in to his sisters room and hopping on it for a rest so he knew what it was for.

We have made his room a sanctuary, he has some toys, a torch/night light and a musical soother he can play music on. He is loving it and will play happily in his room when he first wakes up instead of screaming in the cot he just knocks on his door when he wants to come out, usually at 7ish.

Have you thought about using a toddler bed as they are much lower to the ground and have held a rail near their head. Also make it exciting for her with new bedding or a cuddle toy.

It's a cot that transforms into a bed.
