    Is she ready?

So I think we are up to potty training (eek). My lg is 17mths and is very interested in the toilet. Not that she plays in there or anything, but will happily sit on the loo before a shower etc. We have never tried to keep her out of the toilet when we are in there and when we 'go' we tell her what we are doing so now when we go to the loo she runs up saying 'wee'. We have just bought her a potty and she had great fun putting herself on and off saying 'wee'. These are all good signs to start her right? How do we start this process though? Do we keep her in nappies and just throughout the day constantly put her on her potty for a little bit and reward her when she goes? When do we start with training pants. It's all a little bit... confusing and I don't want to do confuse her.

That sounds like a very good starting point! My DD is no where near that but she knows the toilet is where we do "wee". I think encouraging her and praising her for trying even if she doesnt manage a wee she will build up that courage to do it.

If you can give her nappy free time during the day, stick her on the toilet every now & then...pretty much what you are doing I think. Most of all be relaxed. 17 mths is early days, she might pick it up really quickly or she might just keep 'being interested' for ages.

From experience I think the best thing you can do is give them the opportunity without too much pressure. Pie was on & off the toilet once or twice a month for about 4 or 5 months, then all of a sudden started using it every time she needed to & bang, we were away.
