So finances dictate I need to return to work after not working for the past 3 years to have our 3 babies...
I have been looking at options to try and get some afternoon shift work so that DH can look after the children as childcare places in Ballarat are very hard to get - let alone for 3. So I have decided to set up a small business working from home to help make ends meet, and as I'm not talented enough to make things I have set up my own Ironing business.
So all I need now is clients, I think 5-7 a week would be more than enough and I'm only charging $20 per basket which I think is quite reasonable. I've set up a Facebook page for the business (see link below) and have also arranged some information cards that I can letter drop in my local area. I'm also going to advertise in my local Multiple Birth Magazine and DH is going to pass them around at work as well.
If anyone has any further ideas on how I might be able to attract clients I would appreciate any help as I would prefer to stay at home.
DH works at our local hospital, so I'm hoping I might be lucky and get something from there and when the school year starts again I'm going to pass out flyers at my local playgroup as well as my Multiple Birth playgroup. We also a local monthly newsletter so I'll put an ad in there also, apart from that I can't think of any anything else to try and attract business - oh and using friends to see if they have friends or family wanting an ironing lady. Fingers crossed it works out...
do any local shops have places you can put up flyers?
think of some ideas for how it can be used.. e/g a family can buy it as a service (so the avenues you are exploring now will attract that) - someone could also buy it as a gift for a new mum or a sick relative so you could market as that
also any corporate environment would be good - you could maybe offer a pick up/drop off service to a call centre or office and get a few clients that way.
Good idea about the gift thing and I'm going to market it with my Multiple Birth group as a way of getting business as I know what it is like to have newborn twins.
I live about 30 mins outside of Ballarat and am going to be offering a weekly drop off and collection service to those customers and also have the option to drop off at my home with a faster turn around timeframe.
