Very little. In fact, he was given a lemonade iceypole when he woke up and was fine when we went home.
DS2 had the exact same and we were prescribed pain stop, which he didn't need. Plain old panadol did the trick. He ate dinner that night.
You really will be amazed at how resilient they are and this surgery only took a few extra minutes than grommets alone, he just needed to hang around alot longer, the worst and most painful part for DS1 was when they took the canula out.
dd had adenoids, tonsills and grommets done just over a month ago. she had quite a bit of pain and refused to drink or eat so had to be hospital for 4 days. the pain lasted about 2 weeks but was up and down from day to day.

I'm with loulabelle, my DS had tonsils and adenoids out last week, but it's the tonsils causing him all the pain. 3 kids in hospital with him just had adenoids and grommets and they were gone a few hours after the op and didn't seem in much pain at all. One of the girls had a sore ear.... That's it! Good luck
how is she going, olive? are they keeping her in overnight? giving painkillers the first few days, but make sure you do, even if you have to do a ml at a time.
