I find that when I am struggling emotionally - It helps to get everything in order physically...
Soooo i've gone all OCD.
Friday:
My room is spotless and moved around...
Both girls rooms are spotless and moved around (Even the clothes draws)...
Saturday:
I've gone through the linen cupboard and organised it into sets/fitted sheets/normal sheets/different sizes etc
And done the same to the bathroom cupboard with towels/blankets/etc...
I think I might feel better if I get it all done, a little more relaxed. But it's driving me insane that everything is taking SOOO LONG. I want it done now... So feeling a little obsessed :P
Sunday:
I want the computer table (which currently resembles a pile of paperwork) and my Uni cupboard cleaned and organised tomorrow and that area all moved around, Which also involves three huge cupboards so going to have to clean them out too...
After all the work I have done today I am exhausted! (I even cleaned out the pool)... And the house is looking more messy then when I started because I am not putting anything away that I am not keeping so I have piles of clothes/linen in the dining room!
I need a double I think to finish the rest of it. . . Or just keep going with the normal stuff - coz now i'm tired...
What do you do when your feeling a little stressed and emotionally unbalanced?
Yep I go a little OCD.. only after a while I calm down, but then kinda like you I look around and I have done a great job of "sortong"... just not putting everything away lol
But its funny, on your list, in the last week I have done the kids rooms the spare room and the linen closet!!! I also did the kids toy room xmas eve night, but you wouldnt know it now!!! My next project is the "crap cuboard" in the kitchen.. we went from having a crap drawer... ya know the one where random crap accumulates.. well now we have a whole cuboard and it really needs de-crap-ifying!!!!!!!
Yes! Post Christmas OCD is happening here. I have currently putting kids clothes in space bags to put into the shed (because their cupboards were crammed). I drove past our local charity shop yesterday and they have stopped taking donations because of all the post Christmas clear outs...so we're not alone.
What do you do with old linen? I have new towels, so I'm wondering what to do with the older sets (which are faded and starting to fray...they're Sheridan so not cheap when new).
Older towels - Cut them up to be used as handtowels in the kitchen, or for emergencies in the car (a plastic lidded box in the boot is a great emergency kit with a change of knickers for all, toilet paper, deodorant, sun screen etc). Or those with little ones, an extra layer of protection in the cot?
OK today's list is doing the computer table/Uni cupboard... I also want to get in and do my three ordament (sp?) cupboards as well so I can move everything around. I'm thinking I might like to move the dining table closer and the computer table into the other room... Of course you girls have no idea what I mean... But I'm thinking if I move it all around I might give a better vibe off "shrugs" I know something needs to change....
But it's sooo hot today, I'm going to have to do it imbetween jumping in the pool!!!
CM that's a good idea for the linen - I have a pile of it here too I should see if the animal shelter would like it.
Starbright - good minds think a like :P
Sopdet - have fun today ;-D
Thanks for replying everyone knowing i'm not alone in the OCD cleaning spree - isn't it meant to be done in spring :P
I've removed the shoes from the shoe shelves, put the couch on its side so I can move furniture around. I'm trying to work out the best spot for the couch (which folds down into a bed - almost futon like but not a futon), so that the computer screen can still be seen. I have to organise my uni bookcase, which is going to be painful, because I need to remove all the books before I can move it and it is chockers. But right now I need some food!
I need to do the same thing with the UNI bookcase... I hope if fits where I want everything moved too...
I'm eating too. Feeling a little lazy because I haven't done anything yet except the stuff left over from yesterday... Also need to replace all my seat covers back onto the car and set up the back seats (with the girls back seat organisers and DVD players etc)

truly, i would pay you to go OCD in my place. Because i'm in a small place, when things are cluttered/untidy, it is physically hard to walk thru the rooms, i literally am tripping over stuff. I feel so closed in, the place is so dark (have to put roller blinds down, to keep heat out on hot days, even when roller blinds are fully up, small windows, so still not terribly light place). It's on my mind constantly, i don't know what to do with the stuff, i keep dreaming/scheming about space effective ways to use the space available, i go to IKEA/Howard's Storage and don't actually buy anything, cos i can't work out the best stuff to suit, scared of buying things that won't work, cos anythign that doesn't fit, i literally have nowhere to put it. i bought 12 storage drawers last year, to put inside my wardrobe, thought i had measured so carefully, got them here, put them together, they didn't fit. Six are standing by themselves, as the only storage in my shower room. Six are standing by themselves, in the lougneroom. in a 3.5m square room, very conspicuous and ugly.
sorry, vent over.
no outdoor storage at all, my carboot is taken up with bilby's balance bike that has to live there, cos there is nowhere outside or inside to put it, i feel overwhelmed. Would love to have some of that OCD here.
Finally able to come back and answer your original post I'm kinda the same as you, if my environment is out of order then I start to feel like the walls are closing in and I can't relax. Once the place is tidy then everything else seems not so bad!
Am driving DH crazy getting him to rearrange things before starts back at work next week! Storage is getting built, pictures are going up on walls, cupboards are getting cleaned out, playroom is getting overhauled...
Omg.... My house looks trashed... I'm midway movig my whole Uni/dining room area around. Those on my FB can see the progress. I didnt take a photo of my pool table because it's chokers!!!!
my spare room is trashed too! Lost the motivation to do any on it now, will get back into it after dinner which I'm about to cook. Will have the bookcase empty by the time I go to sleep!

what about some time out, to get over the whole going camping thang? You push yourself so hard. Your groove will return, once you've recovered from teh camping, settled the girls into their routines for the year. Or is the OCD decluttering a way of distracting yourself from where your mind goes, if you are not super busy/exhausted?
(still wish i could get me some of that OCD, cos if you saw my place, you would cringe, it really NEEDS me to be OCD like you.)
