    Sounds like a lovely idea!

A few years ago DH was working until 9ish at night, so I organised a picnic in the backyard. I made all the food during the day, so I could quickly set it up when he got home. I also did a silly quiz about us like favourite drink, where our first date was etc. Was a heap of fun & very relaxing... we also had a beautiful clear night to watch the stars.

We had a stay-in night last year. I decided to be very ambitious (had a 10 week old) and make a special dinner. It was a stinking hot day, so I made gazpacho with heart shaped chilli and olive polenta croutons, and chocolate custards with heart shaped pink-iced wafer dippers.

I was totally on track to get it all done before he came home, but darling DH, being lovely, decided he would come home early, and the place was a shambles, and it wasn't a nice surprise for him after all, but we still had a nice night Then that weekend we busted down to the Gold Coast for a mini-break.

    Themed nights are also great.

We've not gone out on Valentines Day in quite a few years. And I don't miss it, we have the most amazing time regardless.

So we've done 5 course meals. Mexican meals, French meals, 1950's themed nights, Midnight Picnics and Jazz nights. Probably way more but can't think right now.

A little bit of planning, cooking and imagination and you can turn your home into any romantic restaurant situation. Throw in some themed music (I also go with themed radio stations... unless I'm making a playlist that has meaning).
