    Little girls physical development

This may seem like an odd question but I have only one little girl and nobody to compare her to so I thought I would ask the wise women on here

Basically my little girl is now almost 4 (birthday in 2 weeks) and is tall for her age (above the 90th percentile) and heavy (weighs 20kg so above the 97th percentile although) but she is not chubby and doesn't have rolls of fat or anything. What she does have are teeny tiny breasts and I'm not sure if this is just normal puppy fat sitting there, or if she is heading for one of those awful early puberties you read about. They are just tiny buds, and when she runs about naked (and she often does) they are quite obvious and physically she looks quite different from my boys (still with the toddler belly that is so cute though). I always thought girls and boys looks pretty much the same until puberty.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar with their daughters or should I be worried?

My DD is only 16.7kg and nearly 6 years of age (but we have a medical condition to contend with) although in saying that she does have little chesticles (as she calls them)

My DD is 3 (December) and she is tall (110cms) and weights 21kgs - she has no more chart left to be on in the blue book - as he dad is 6'7". She is like you DD and slim and tall - she is still flat chested but I will be watching now to see if this develops towards her 4th birthday.

DD who is 9.5yrs weighs 29 kilos. Not sure how tall exactly (I only know weight from Wii fit and paed appointment lol) but she is average height.

Her breast buds are just forming. I have noticed one is definitely bigger than the other. I have felt it briefly (she is starting to get very modest) and it feel like a little lump under there. Doctor Google told me this is normal but I am going to keep an eye on it.

so until recently was she completely flat chested N2L? No little bee stings or anything?

Jakabella, my DH is 6'5" so I guess this is where my kids get their height from too, as they certainly don't get it from me!

Not really Trav. She seems to have inverted nipples so not sure if that makes a difference

She is pretty slim (doesn't take after me!!) I have only noticed micro-mini-bumps forming over the past month or so.

Dd1 is 4.5 and is 108cm, about 18kg and is completely flat chested. No tummy either, she has always been very slender.

My DD(4.9yrs) is average weight and stature, but she has little breast buds too. She has a very obvious feminine shape too. I have a feeling she might mature early. I don't necessarily think that height or weight now would have alot to do with if they will mature earlier, it's more to do with their own hormones and probably heredity.
I went through puberty pretty early, I got my period at 11yrs old. I was also tall for my age then and had little breasts, which needed a bra around 11ish too. I was one of the first of my peers and I was always taller and bigger than them, from about 8- 13 (ish)yrs old. I then really slowed down growing (thank goodness!) and everything became average when I was about 13.

I had 6 naked girls ranging from 3 to 6 running around in the backyard on Friday. Some had the little fatty boobies you describe, some didn't. The ones with a belly seemed to have them more than the really skinny ones. Girls tend to get a belly before a growth spurt ie they seem to lay down fat then shoot up. She may be getting ready to do that.

my daughter also has inverted nipples, which make the 'boobies' she has look a lot more obvious. Hmm, I wonder if it is more that just a collection of puppy fat. I don't intend to take her to a doctor or anything right now because I figure all that will do is give her a complex about her body, which is the last thing a healthy 4yo needs. But I might keep a very close eye on her incase she develops any other symptoms of far too early puberty.

ETA just saw the last two responses and feel a lot better now! I think she might develop early like I did, but I'll put it down to a fatty collection just now. Phew Thanks everyone

I agree with Nai that maybe she's just about to shoot up. Sometimes I look at DD adn think she looks a bit chunky (horrid mother that I am!!) and then the next week I look at her and she looks heaps taller!

She has just had a huge growth spurt, so maybe she's not quite finished it. She's already in a size 12 shoe so I hope she doesn't grow too fast because I've only just bought her shoes and clothes at Christmas

I've found that my girls have much different body shapes from my boys, right from birth.

My girls have chubbier thighs, rounder bums and little bit of breast shape, if that makes sense? Like if I give my DD2 or DD3 a cuddle side on, they get a boob line between their breast shapes. (lolling at my description!!)

My boys both had skinny legs, barely a bum and completely flat, almost bony chests.

My DD1 is now 14 and she is as skinny as anything & 5'8. She started to develop breast buds at 10 and got her first AF at 12.5. Pretty regular stuff really and not too early.

If you have a feel of the chesticles (hehe... very cute!) breast development will feel like a hard little bud as a PP described. Puppy fat boobies will be soft without a hard bud.
