    Cheap accommodation sites

    Hi all,
I'm looking to book a couple of nights away in ballarat for the four of us so at least we will feel like we've done something in the holidays and the cubs will have seen something new.
Aside from stayz and last minute (which doesn't appear to cater to self contained) can anyone recommend some good last minute sites?
    TIA xx

Haven't stayed in Ballarat for many years, but when DH and I went to Tasmania in September we found that staying in cabins were alot cheaper than a motel room. Cabins are self contained.

Good luck finding somewhere!! We used to stay at The Windmill but I don't think it's as cheap as it used to be.

DH and I stayed at a beautiful self contained cottage in Buninyong (about 10minute beautiful drive from Ballarat) we found on Wotif - can't remember exactly how much but we wouldn't have stayed there if it was much more than $100p/night

I tend to find the hotels/motels etc on those cheaper then approach them directly and ask if they will match that price that way you don't get stung with any fees and means you normally get to pay on arrival.

We went last week for 2 nights, I booked Tuesday and arrived Thursday! We stayed in big4 goldfields in a miners cottage, sleeps 5, I'd ring them rather than just going by what their websites say

So far the best I have come up with is $140.00 per night. Still looking.

Yep, try the cabins in caravan parks. I was looking at Ballarat recently and most had vacancies. I'm a new fan of caravan parks - they have swimming pools, children's playgrounds and the kids always make new friends.

There's heaps of them with vacancies in Echuca this weekend too though I think you won't do better than $140 per night.
