    Red face Mongolian Blue Spots

I was wondering how many peoples children had these and what ethenticity you/your partners background are?

My DD2 is quite dark. Gorgeous deep olive skin ...well at the moment, she may lighten up though I hope not. At our MCHN appointment the nurse picked up on some faint discolouration on DD2 and told me they were Mongolian blue spots, she then asked about our heritage ane hubbys side are Scandinavian and my lines are Scottish.

She told me that there are quite a lot of darker skinned Scots because of earlier Spanish invasions or even back further ?

    Anyhoo

I read somewhere that its a 3-10% chanceof caucasion babies having it.

How many others have had it and where do your bloodlines come from??

DD1 has very olive skin and has one of these too. We are both caucasian although I have the black Irish heritage in my background (ie the Spanish connection). My side of the family has olive skin while DP's are fair.

DD2 had one at the bottom of her spine. You can't see it now. She has lovely tanned skinned which comes from her dads side, they are Maltese. I am Australian with English background and have very white skin.

DD2 has one in about the middle of her back. Very Caucasion here. DH's family is mostly Irish and Welsh. Mine is mostly Irish and English. DH is a strawberry blonde with red skin undertones, whilst I have an olive undertone (fair but olive if that makes sense)

My son had a light mongolian spot at the base of his spine, but it's gone now. I'm very Caucasian and hubby is Anglo Indian.

My step son had a very very dark mongolian spot that covered half his butt, lol. He is half Anglo Indian and half South American. He's 14 so I can't say I've ever seen his butt, hehe, but he accused us of making it up as a story, so I assume it's gone now

Both of mine have them but not blue on the front on their thigh - sort of a greyish/brown patch.... My kids are 1/4 Japanese. DD is fair with light brown hair and DS is blue eyed and has olive brown skin!! They don't look Japanese at all but then neither does DH who looks more Italian/Maori/Fijian!

ETA: Not sure ours are MBS now - they were never blue and I don't think they will ever fade (was just reading they fade over time) as DH and his brother both have them still now.

I didn't realise you could get them on other parts of your body, I thought they were always on your spine? If that's so, I think I have one on my left thigh.

Nai - that is what my kids have, both are dark patches on their thigh/hip and my Japanese MIL told me all kids with Japanese/Asian blood get them somewhere??? Otherwise maybe they are just a birth mark? Have googled and all I can find is the blue ones.
