Just wondering for any thoughts out there....i have just started one arm out of my nearly 6mnth olds wrap.
She now cries, rolls over and gets stuck for up to an hour before settling.
She used to settle straight away when wrapped..
Is this just a phase of her getting used to a free arm? And also her newly found skill of rolling?
Has anyone else had this prob?
Thanks!!
I would just keep her wrapped and try again in a month or two, but I am lazy. Or perhaps try weaning from the wrap a different way, like just wrapping slightly looser over a couple of weeks rather than the freedom of a whole arm out.
Thanks!
I persisted for aout 4 days - every nap there was at least 15-20 mins of tears and during the night she was waking more oftern SO I have gone back to wrapping her. She still rolls but I think she is fairly safe as she is in a sleep suit with little arms so can still prop her head up - and if not she is a loud crier!
I might give it another go when she is 7 months old but for now I will work on getting more sleep in the night.
I had to unwrap DS about 6-8 weeks ago because he was rolling and getting frustrated in his wrap. But of course he found it hard to settle with his arms free. I tried one arm out, loose muslin wrap, etc. But what I found worked was putting him in his cot and holding his hands on his chest while I rocked and shooshed him to sleep. Once be was asleep, he was good on his own. It only took a couple of days of this before he started flipping onto his tummy or side to sleep, and his flailing arms weren't a problem anymore!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it DD was wrapped until 10 months using the love me baby wrap me ups. We found once she started rolling in her sleep she'd get stuck on her tummy and get very upset. So we went cold turkey and had a great couple of weeks... then she discovered that she could sit up, crawl and even stand up in her cot and bed time became a circus... She also got very tangled up in her sheets, so we started using sleeping bags, so her arms were free but her legs were a little less mobile.
