Hey all
I am looking for some wonderful words of wisdom
I have lost a bit of weight and noticing excess skin *vomit*
I am wondering if there is anything I can do/take that can help me here?
Or is surgery the only real answer?
When I was loosing weight I regularly exfoliated my skin with those matted washer things. It helps get the blood flowing to the area. I don't know if I reduced the excess skin a lot but it certainly felt a lot better.
Massage and moisturizer can help but there is definitely a limit to how much things will 'snap back' so to speak. Surgery is the only real option for that but it comes with risks and scars of its own so think carefully about it.
I lost 20 kg when I was 16 years old. I am now 29 and I have flappy bingo arms at the top And the tops of my thighs are really wobbly as well. I can usually hide it, just have to be conscious of my clothing purchases IYKWIM
Sorry, but I think the only way to rid flappy skin for good is surgery. It's so unfair, you do all the hard work to loose the weight and then your stuck with the excess skin!
I have been moisturizing everyday and massaging my wobbly bits!
I must say considering the amount I have lost my skin is not 'that bad'. It's just a personal thing I guess
As I have more weight to lose I just want to give my body a chance to fix itself iykwim
Google is not very encouraging either
Thanks ladies, I may start exfoliating as well
Is there any food/nutrients/vitamins that help skin elasticity?
Queen - Have you tried those wraps? I have done them on my face and there was a noticeable difference instantly. My friend uses hers (same company) regularly and has lost loads of cm's and excess skin.
The ones I have used are by a company called 'ItWorks'
Losing weight slowly instead of quickly will help a lot as well. I know for a fact that I will be left with a floppy belly when I lose my weight and depending on how bad it is, I will have a tummy tuck done to get rid of it.
I have lost quite alot this past year, I might look into those wraps.
My main concerns are my bingo wings and my inner thighs!
Its scary that losing the weight is not the end of it.
My friend loves them so much she became a distributor! Lol. One of her buyers had gastric banding done and is tightening her skin heaps using them and eating right and keeping her water up. They are different to the salon one which just help you lose water weight. Lol. I sound like I am selling them! I was just really impressed with how my face & double chin looked after using the face one.
It can take up to two years for skin to firm up a bit after massive weightloss, but some people (like myself) will never be able to recover fully, in which case the only options are to learn to live with it, or have is surgically removed. My plan is to have it surgicall removed once I have definitely finished having kids, and have maintained my goal weight for 2yrs.
You know I'm going to be in the same boat when I catch up to you. We can be old flappers together
I'm not even going to stress about the skin side of things until the weight is under control and has been for 24 months and then I think I'll look into a tummy tuck.... but it really depends on how everything goes. I have a friend on FB who has lost almost 100kgs and she's refusing to have surgery for excess skin and is going to 'train' it off. I have just seen that you are also a friend. You should check out her latest blog post... it's about excess skin. Might help you out
xx
Thanks niadalla xx she lost it slower though :/
I have been exfoliating, massaging, moisturizing in hope it will help. I do not plan to do surgery for at least 12mths after goal.
