    Professional Oven Cleaning

Have you had it done? How much did it cost?

There are a couple of companies around Melbourne, it looks perfect. Our oven is 10yrs old and it could really do with a good professional clean. We have self cleaning plates on the sides and I clean a few times a year as well, it's the door and racks that need a good going over and also our hot plate.
From the pictures on some of the websites, the ovens come up brand new!!

    Any recommendations?

Haven't had it done professionally, but for the racks, soak them overnight with laundry powder, they wipe clean and look new!

I don't have a recommendation as I'm not in Melbourne but when we put our house on the market I got a regular cleaner in to do all those jobs I wasn't too keen on like all the windows, doors, fans, rangehood filter and the oven. She spayed it with the oven cleaner stuff and scrubbed it and it looked brand new again. Granted it was only 3 years old but still well used. I'm sure a regular cleaner would cost a lot less than a specific oven cleaner?

I do mine myself with just oven cleaner always comes up like new. I spray the racks in the oven and leave them for a couple of hours, then soak them in the laundry tub in really hot water and they don't need much scrubbing.

It is my one luxury to have the oven cleaned by anyone other than me

The last time I had it done it was $90 and mine is a regular sized oven, for bigger they charge more. But it always comes up like brand spanking new and it's a fairly old oven. If you get it done every six months they usually give a discount too but I normally just do it once a year. We have Oven Sparkle here but not sure if they are over east. The best part is you can cook with it straight away and no fumes, oh and not doing it yourself is pretty good too!

I have a quote from the oven cleaning company. They charge $120 for a standard sized oven, if you have a bigger than normal sized oven the price goes up to $150. I asked about the cooktop as well and that was $50 for a 5 burner cooktop and $40 for a 4 burner cook top.
I am waiting to hear back from another company. I imagine they are all around the same price. Think it's a pretty popular thing to do as the oven cleaning company told me it was at least a 3 week availability for appointments at the moment!!

I have used the oven cleaning company in Melbourne before. They don't use harsh chemicals and have a van that has a super dooper dishwasher type thing inside to wash all the racks etc. They are a family business and i loved the end result. It's reminded me to give them a call before. If i remember rightly, they can do BBQs too that need attention.

My email got a call back already! I was quoted $95 for a standard 600w oven that's extra dirty and my oven is booked in for the 8th of Feb, their first available spot (so they seem quite busy). They will also call you once a year (if you agree) to see if you want it done again which I think is awesome. Thanks for the idea Heather!

No I didn't feeb. Our range hood is OK, their website is just as the company name..so oven cleaning company. I imagine that would be part of it considering most cook tops would have a range hood as well.

Regarding rangehoods, I recently discovered that I can put my rangehood filter things in the dishwasher to clean them! I had always been soaking them etc and they never really came out grease-less. Looking forward to trying the dishwasher instead!
I've had our oven professionally cleaned before, I actually had a discount voucher I got from somewhere and I think it ended up being around $70. I was pregnant at the time and not interested in doing it myself! Now we have a house cleaner so I'm getting her to do it every 6 mths or so as part of an extra hour she does once a month. She's only $20/hr so it will be much cheaper!
