Wall stickers - have you used them?

We are building a house this year and my mind is already wondering through and making plans to decorate.

Instead of painting feature walls or choosing completely different colours for the kids bedrooms I am thinking about leaving them to match the rest of the house and using wall stickers to decorate them.

I just want to make sure they don't ruin the paint underneath and are easily removed if we want to replace them, as well as being easy enough to put up. Has anyone used them?

There are some absolutely gorgeous designs - I think they will really add to the rooms without being permanent. I can't wait to start already lol.

We have used them, both a very large one in one of the boys rooms, and several small ones in another room. They are fairly simple to apply, however I would be certain they would ruin the paint underneath. We painted the kids rooms with a feature wall, or walls, and put the stickers on those walls. It's quite striking, bright colours with bold stickers, but we are prepared that when the stickers come off, the walls are repainted.

we have some in DS's room. they really do change the whole look of a room & look great - we have a sort of jungle one with a big lion & then a tree branch with a toucan & a spider that's hanging from it.

it definitely hasn't done any damage to the paint underneath (we rent & i was quite paranoid about this). the only downside we've found is that the thinner parts of the sticker (like some of the thin branches) have lost their 'stick' and have come away from the wall. the more solid, bigger stickers (like the lion) have stayed on the wall really well (they've been up for about 18 months now).

we wiped the wall first but maybe didn't do it enough? i'm not sure. it does get pretty warm in DS's room during summer as it gets the afternoon sun & cold in winter as we don't have ducted/central heating so i'm not sure if that has contributed.

i have loved them though & haven't taken them down! i think if we get more then i would look at maybe getting some cheaper ones to see how they go.

We've done the same. The entire house is one colour and DD's room has a handful of stickers that have been moved around. They peel off the wall without a problem and any residue left behind can be wiped off with sugar soap. If you're worried, stick some up in a wardrobe where they're out if sight, leave them for a few days and then peel them off to see if the brand you're buying is going to be fine for the wall.

    DD loves them!

We've used them in rental houses and they definitely come off without damaging the paint. I think they are a great idea for rentals, and also for kids who's grow up so quickly. A nursery can easily be made more suitable for an older child by changing the wall stickers. The latest in our home is dinosaur stickers - no doubt there will be a new flavour of the month down the track but with stickers redecorating isn't much of a problem.

Ive used them several times. We have Peter Rabbit stickers in the boys room (from eBay)that were originally in our old house and they came off no probs and restuck well at our new house. I've also got them all over our playroom (from Aldi) and many of them have been repositioned no probs either.

I've used the kind you buy from baby bunting with no issues. Dd's first room was very hot and they didn't fall off. They also survived two rearranging sessions. The last lot have had one rearranging session.

My tip to remove is do it slowly to avoid ripping paint off. We love them!

We have them in Moo's room and they look fantastic. He has pulled off the ones he can reach several times and the paint hasn't come off, they also stick back on no problem

Thanks for the replies - they look so gorgeous, I'm glad their a hit. I can't wait to get some!

You can get them from heaps of places online - I am not sure of any real life shops that stock them but I'm sure they are around.

OP - I got mine from Kmart and the reject shop. Both come off the walls easily.

we got ours through ebay. I'm slightly reassured that everyone else has got them off without lifting the paint. Ours came with a warning that the paint could be damaged and they are stuck so firmly I believed that to be true, but maybe it was just a disclaimer to avoid litigation

We bought some from Ebay (huge range) and they peel off with ease, the more you move them around though, the more likely they are to loose their 'stick'

Totally transforms a room. Am buying some more in the next few months when we move DS into his new room to free up the nursery for the baby, Have been looking at ebay and there is such a big choice

I love our wall stickers - I am on our 3rd set in the nursery because I have changed the feel of the room for each baby. I also have them in DD1's room.

THESE ones I got off eBay and are in Dd1's bedroom I created a wall border with them rather than doing a feature mainly to break the height of the walls up.

THESE ones I ordered through Bella's Little Ones and are part of a Living Textiles set. I didn't like all the stickers so only used the ones I liked. Again only did a wall border though this one is larger than DD1's.

I will say one thing about them though.. if your paint has tefflon in it they do peel a bit so just be prepared to re-stick every so often.

    Hope this helps

Might need to look into this... Going to move DS into his new room soon and don't like the idea of repainting, wall art could be an idea!
