Hi there, hoping for some BB expertise!! My dd2 has been walking for about a week, pretty much walks over crawling all the time now. So if we are out at the shops or whatever and she wants to hop down for a bit, I don't want her walking around with bare feet.....she still loves to put them in her mouth lol. I read somewhere bare foot is best, but what do you put newbie walkers in when out or its cold etc? Thanks!
I tended not to let my kids walk when out when had not been walking for long, for fact that wanted them in bare feet as helps them learn faster as they can feel ground etc. But I did buy some of the soft dunlop volley shoes from target that I put on them when in pram just to get them used to wearing shoes and so that I did have option of getting them out pram to occasionally walk in shoes,
I like the very soft leather ones, My girls had Margaret River Stompers but i think the Bobux brand are in most baby stores. We have used the same pairs for both girls so they were a good buy.
I went to a shoe shop and got Ds properly fitted and picked their brains too - spoke to a very knowledgable lady who said proper soles are best and showed me about the right amount of flex in the sole, support for the ankle etc Don't go with pre-walkers as they're not actually supposed to be walked in. Also, only use them when you need to as bare feet is best. I also Dr Googled it and have a friend who's BIL is a podiatrist- they all seemed to say pretty much the same. I figured for the sake of $10-20 it's worth it and fwiw, he's still in the same shoe size as when he was first fitted (12 months ago!).
