For me, it's always keep a week ahead on the reading. For example make sure week 1 reading is done by the Monday of the first week.
Is it uni, oua or flexi??
I loved flexi - I did an accounting diploma and breezed through it as there weren't any specific time frames- I seemed to do better and get through subjects faster that way.
Now I'm distance at monash uni it's a whole different ball game- I try and get notes down for assignments as soon as possible even if they arent due till end of semester.
Get a diary!!! Or even print off a month to month one from outlook - I write down every chapter of reading due by whatever day, any additional test due dates assignment dates etc so it's always in my face and I miss nothing.
Try not to waste time on unnecessary things. For me listening to lectures was a pointless waste of 5 hours when it's all in the reading - I still want time with my family and I still got fantastic marks.
Main thing for me was to schedule time to focus on study. My DH or parents took the boys occasionally so I could have extra time but a lot was done after the boys went to bed. Restricted time I spent with DH though as I also worked full time.
If you can, set up a schedule and stick to it as much as possible. Try and finish things a bit early so you have a cushion if something happens (for example, my eldest was taken to hospital for an infection and I couldn't study for a couple of weeks. I had that cushion so I wasn't stressed).
I also got a semester wall calendar to clearly show when due dates were for assignments. (And I crossed off days as I went so I could see how far away assignments were)
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so sorry if I'm confusing you
I did half of my science degree and pretty much all of my postgrad stuff remotely. It really suited me as lectures just make me fall asleep and I have to read it to take it in anyway. Not sure what your course will be like but mine were typically two assignments during the semester, one mid semester exam and one final exam. I usually got both assignments out of the way first, and then started studying for the exams and going through all of the content. I did this because assignments have an end while studying you never really finish until the exam hits so it just worked out, but it will depend on what your subject is and how they have set it out. Also I found that if stayed ahead I stayed motivated and once I feel behind my motivation disappeared! Good luck! I found distance great and hope you do too.
Make sure that you do all your housework first. THere is nothing worse than leaving it to get stuck into study and then getting to 5pm and realising that you have a mountain of housework to do as well. It never takes me very long if I do a little bit each day and when do washing, I put a load on, do a bit and then take a break to hang it out. Its not hard to stay on top of it all once you get the hang of it.
Watching for tips, I'm doing a 12 week entry course to uni and am concerned how I'm going to juggle it all with 4 kids by myself. DH is studying on campus too so it's a busy year for us.
get someone to firewall your distracting websites for a period of time before assignments are due or exams. My DH had to do this because I would leave my assignments to the last minute. As in I'd sit up all night the nigh before it was due.
Mother Goose, there's a nice piece of software that does just that - blocks all of your social networking sites for as many hours that you tell it to. It's called anti-social lol.
