    Tafe fees

I've just got an invoice for the fees and I almost fell over! From the invoice they want me to pay them nearly $1500 within 7 days! Who has that sort of cash just sitting the? I know we dont! I have the form to apply for payment by installments but i dont know if we'll qualify. If we dont there is no way i can do this course which is just effed! I also thought the was a cap on the cost of fees? Well there was last time I checked anyway! Grr! Advice welcome if anyone has any idea how this stuff works...

Does the course come under the VET Fee help scheme?

According to their website it is subsidized? But i think it only means that if it's over x threshold the gov foots the gap.

In my field that sounds subsidized.
Off the top of my head, in my industry and knowledge from last year, CertIII is around $2550
Funded place (no prior quals and a bit more) was around $1050, HCC place was around $500.

Yeah I haven't found anything that actually that tells me what the cap is, what the conditions to fee installments are etc etc and the tafe office that i need to talk to was engaged every time I tried, you would think they'd have more than one line? *sigh* centerlink also decided they were going to play hard to get today, grrrr im so over this!

For my advanced dip in children's services I was paying around $80-$150 per module and around 20 modules for the whole subject. That was through TAFE and they allowed either up front with a discounted fee for up front payment, payment per module as you enroled and also other payment plans.
Remember if you are working and furthering study for work, it is tax deductable.

My DH has just started tafe and we're on a payment plan. We met with the counselor and told her why this was important to us and came up with a way that we could make affordable payments over the next couple months. Good luck hun.
