How much did your wedding celebrant cost?

I just got my first quote back from a local celebrant and I am in complete shock!

She charges $3500 for the ceremony, which includes one rehearsal prior to the day.

    Is that normal??

We are trying to do it on the cheap - and figures like that are definitely not in our budget!

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor lol

Ours was a friend who charged $150. I was told though that i should expect to pay around $600 for a civil celebrant.

Is the big day on a public holiday or something, because it sounds extremely high to me.

Nope, not a public holiday or anything. It is a Saturday though - but surely that isn't the reason for the cost.

Maybe she does it standing on her head? Lol

Glad to hear that the other quotes might come back more reasonable!!

    Whaaaaaaat? That's mental Ash.

I can't remember exactly how much we paid but it wasn't that much. I have a feeling it was roughly $550 plus travel. That was 5 years ago but you'd think prices wouldn't change that dramatically in that time frame though!

holy smokes batman that does seem excessive to me! i remember when we were looking 6 yrs ago i found a celebrant through an online celebrant register... you may be able to find someone a bit cheaper. i think ours cost about $200 or so.

    good luck!

Wowzers... my guy was around $350-400 from memory. We met with him a couple of times (at his house) to pick the vows and to let him we know what we wanted / expected on the day.

I'd be definitely getting another quote!!

Hooley Dooley! Mine was $440 which included all the paper work, travel to ceremony (150km round trip), a few meetings beforehand to sort stuff out.

Seriously get another quote. Did they add another 0 accidentally lol!

Ours was $450 and that was for our Australia Day (2008) Wedding.. I'd be asking if she made a typo and added a zero..

I guess it's worth checking - I probably won't hear back from her if it wasn't a typo then lol

I agree with maybe checking to see if she added a zero - that is just nuts otherwise.

We paid around $250 six years ago and that included three meetings, rehearsal, all the government fees for lodging papers, and all the equipment she needed.
