    Question Passing Down Undies?

Ok so this is probably an odd question but my girls are very close in age, DD1 is TT'd and DD2 is in the process at the moment.
DD1 is basically out of her small undies now but i don't know if i should just pass them down to DD2.

I mean i know where they have been, i know they are clean and how quickly they are cleaned after accidents, i know my girls are clean but undies to me are just one of those things you DON'T pass on.

SO i am interested to hear if you've passed undies down to the younger sibling or just thrown the old (in perfect condition) ones out?

DD2 has some new ones she's been using as i wanted her to pick her own undies for starting TTing but yeah i just don't know.

    this could get interesting.

yes we did, especially when TT. DD2 got one pack of nice undies but if she had an accident in them she then wore some of dd2's old nickers. It was good because if it was a number 2 accident I just threw them out

Now she is TT I tend to buy new nickers, in saying that my girls arent that different in size and sometimes their undies get mixed up anyway in th ewash

We re-used nappies so undies aren't that different to me, I was going to re-use them but my 5 year old still fits in his size 2-3's that haven't been worn to pieces and my 2 year old has a tiny butt so I had to find smaller undies for him.

For me I wont be handing down undies.... I just can't but doesn't mean it's wrong or a no-no that's just me I guess. To tell you the truth, I don't do hand me downs at all. As soon as something doesn't fit one of my kids, off it goes to a friend or salvos.

I don't see the diff between using the same nappies and the same undies for your children, I would use them.

    Wow really?
My girls are paddock kids so I pass down everything, stained stuff becomes motorbike & paddock clothes and anything not ruined is passed on for the fact it survived
My girls are so close on age though that I do an empty of 1 draw and it goes straight to DD2, they have soooo many clothes given to them sometimes DD1 doesn't wear things.

Sent from my iPhone, more than likely while I should be doing something else!

Same here with my boys ZF.....what everything can get worn especially being on a farm, they have there farm clothes.

But in answer to the question yes I do hand down undies, my 2 eldest boys are the same size so it became too hard trying to remember whose undies were whose (and they didn't care) so now that just all go in the draw together. I have kept the decent ones and handed them down to there younger brother. That being said when he started toilet training he did get some brand new jocks of his own so I too just through out anyones that ended up with No 2's in them in the bin. I wouldn't accept underwear from someone else though I use these as I know where they have been and how they have been washed.

    We hand them down.
Clothes too and then when we're done with the clothes they go to cousins (not the undies).

The boys are very close in size so TBH they share more than hand them down. I've pretty much forgotten which undies belong to whom

I try to be an ethical consumer so even if I was inclined to spend money on 2 wardrobes I wouldn't because I think that sharing clothes in a family is the socailly and environmentally responsible thing to do.

This is the other thing too the girls CAN share clothes at the moment, including undies and it would make life so much easier to just throw all undies in 1 draw and then let them go from there until DD1 goes to the next size up....

I guess i just need to get over the 'don't share undies' thing and realise they are sisters, they don't have germs, they are clean, healthy little people there could be much worse than sharing undies.

    Thanks everyone.

I used handed down and second hand nappies. Undies couldn't be worse than that, so yes, my dd2 wears dd1s handed down everything including undies. Some were too old so they got thrown but others are still perfectly ok.

    i will be!!!
    a) undies arent cheap!
    b) accidents will happen, better in old knickers than brand newies!
    c) theyre my kids, they dont know theyre 'old' and i know where the knickers have been!
    go for it hun

Yep, I'm not throwing them out if they are good. DD1s get bagged up and stored, and DD2 has the worlds tiniest bottom and was out of nappies before 2, so i gladly took some tiny undies a friends DD had out grown.

We were/are cloth nappy users too.. don't know if that makes a difference.

I'd do it. I do 'hand me downs' as DD1 is bigger than DD2 and DD2 is bigger than DD3. DS and DD1 share some clothes (she loves wearing her brothers clothes) and my DDs have a combined wardrobe. Also works for shoes here as DD has my massive feet and DD2 and 3 have tiny feet.

Its all fair game in our house. I cant remember whose is whose anyway and being boys "if its in my room I will wear it" undies, socks, tee shirts its pretty much only my bras and undies that they wont wear

I will hand undies down the line in my family but not if im handing stuff on outside the family.
My Mum is an avid op shopper and quite often picks me up really pretty Bras for $1 or $2 and they are practically new! Huge savings on the $50 or $60 it usually costs me for a decent bra.
I have no issue with wearing them however I wouldnt wear someone elses knickers

I know I don't have 2 but if I did then I would do hand me down undies. They aren't really 'sharing' cause they are clean, like you said, and they fit both of them. I am sure at some stage they will get mixed up anyway.

I get a lot of hand me downs from cousins and friends (thank goodness) but I don't take undies... probably doesn't really make a difference but I think it's ok between siblings.

We pass them on, they are close in age so are in the same size. They have some that are just theirs ie tinker bell and Minnie and pink or purple but I don't know with some of the others so they are always interchanged in the washing. I know they are washed and clean and it's just like the nappies ds and dd2 shared. I imagine when they are older and going through puberty it will be different.
