I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I looked back through the last 10 pages and couldn't see anything and the search function said my search terms were too common.
I have just started my first AF after a d&c 5 weeks ago. I had the d&c at 11wks after we learned that the baby had stopped growing at around 8wks.
As soon as AF started, I started getting the shakes and the pain has been ramping up steadily. I actually knew AF had started before I even went to the toilet because I felt this way.
This is what AF used to be like for me before I was pg with DD (which was 2 months after I had a lap to remove endo). I used to have 3 days of pain so severe that I couldn't function, couldn't move and couldn't sleep. There was never anything I could do to relieve it, I just had to brace myself for those 3 days each month and suffer through it, knowing it would end.
The thing is, after DD was born and AF returned, I didn't get any of that. I don't know if it was the lap, the pg or both, but the 5 AFs I had between the two pg were virtually pain-free. They were still heavy, but didn't hurt at all.
I'm scared that somehow the m/c or d&c (or both) have messed up whatever had changed and that this pain will be back permanently.
So, how was your AF after your d&c? Painful? Could this be a one-off because of the d&c or is it more likely the endo wreaking havoc again?
My first AF was heavier than the ones between kids. Not more painful but mine were never very painful. But it was definitely heavier. So in some ways, different to the other ones, yes.
Firstly I am so sorry babe xoxo ..... I have just had my AF after my m/c with no D&C and it's been so horrible!! I have had it for nearly 10 days! And painful..... really awful to be honest..... Not sure if that if that helps much xxoo
Thanks for your responses ladies. I'm sorry to hear you had similar experiences.
Thankfully the pain did ease a little after that first night, and has stayed just around the "moderate" level since then. Lol, heavy doesn't begin to describe the last two days though!
It seems the heaviness may have eased off in the last hour or so, so FX that's the worst of it over. Next step will be to do our best to avoid another AF next month...
Thanks. I'm doing okay. The first month was hard (depression, insomnia, etc), but I feel like I've left the worst of that behind me now and it's time to concentrate on trying again.
