    Sleeping on their belly

Does your LO sleep on their belly? DDs (4mo+) learnt to roll over and has decided that she needs to sleep on her belly now. It freaks me out coz I feel like I need to check on her every 5 mins. I try to put her back on her back but she just rolls over.

I know there's stuff u can get to keep
Them on their back but I think she'll wake. She had always hated being wrapped.

MCH said nothing u can do when they want to sleep on their belly.

Anyone else had this happen to their LO?

DD3 is the only one who didnt sleep on her belly like the others - she only just started doing it (she's 10 months) and the others were all on their belly at 2 weeks old. I had a baby breathing monitor so I wasn't too concerned, they all had awesome neck control.

I fought with ds for 4 months over sleeping on his belly. He just plain ol' hated his back. Dd I caved in at day 2 when I was still in hospital.
I also have the breathing monitors. If you keep the bedding minimal and away from their face (well tucked in so they don't pull it up and over), and clean. Don't smoke and drink and yadda yadda.. The risk of SIDS is very minimal still.
If it helps you at all sleep her in your room and/or get a movement monitor. The angel care ones are pretty ace

Eta- DS is now 25 months and still sleeps on his belly, occasionally with his bum up in the air

DS2 wouldn't sleep any other way from 3 weeks. I just went with it as we wouldn't get any sleep on his back.

As long as your little one is unwrapped then all is good.

Helle: we co-sleep. So when I'm sleeping it's okay just before or when she naps. She's started the bum in the air thing too. Cracks me up!

    FabFiona: thanks!

DS slept happily on his back from birth and then one day at about 4.5months old he just started flipping over and sleeping on his tummy. It freaked me out at first and I spent alot of time flipping him back onto his back only to go back in and find him on his tummy again. I came to the conclusion that if he was strong enough to keep flipping himself over that he was old enough to sleep however he pleased. I checked on him every 5 minutes too for a long time too.

DD finally learnt to roll back to stomach at 9-10ish months. From that point she pretty much only sleeps on her stomach. Even at that age it freaked me out a bit first, now I'm just used to it. I'm a tummy sleeper too though, so I don't know if there's any link there?

She's not learnt to roll back on her back & spin around & take up the whole bed. How rude! She better be break dancing next.
