Zumba - please tell me it gets better

    Hi all!
I did my first Zumba class tonight at my new gym, now I have done it before but nothing like this!
It was fast furious and man I was a total un-co!!!
I am so sore now, so it must have done something, please tell me it gets better and I won't always look silly???
Is it hard to catch on?
Is there anything I can do to 'speed' up the process? Or just more classes???
    Thanks x

Try getting the Zumba on Wii and practising there. You will def pick it up eventually as long as you keep on going. Try going to a class that is not as fast paced to start off with and then work your way up. You need to have some dancing co-ords to be able to do it IMO. It's really is fun once you get into it so don't quit yet!

It just takes time to get into the swing of it and the soreness just means all those muscles are getting a good workout.

I miss Zumba classes, but I have it on PS3 at home, it's great.

I have the DVDs and the first time I lost it, was laughing so hard at myself. But I persisted and by the third go, I found I was keeping up. Good luck!

Give it at least 3 sessions before you'll get to know 1-2 of the moves. I went for 5 weeks straight once a week and I got most of the moves down pat, then we stopped going.
Don't worry about what you look like. When I went, I hid down the back and if I stuffed up, noone saw me.
I really enjoyed it though (having been a dancer when I was younger) and I wish I could go back but alas, it's just too far to drive into town so many times a week.

    Stick with it!!

I admire anyone who does any exercise I havent done Zumba, but thought about it (which is how most of my exercise goes) but I reckon the others are right that you'll get it after a couple of goes. Good luck!!!

On a side note, is Wii Zumba good?

I LOVE Wii Zumba. I have both versions and Zumba 2 is obviously better. It really does work you and you can do it anytime you want to.

I found being unco the most enjoyable part. I went with a friend and if we got out of step we just made up our own moves. Hilarious! We had kids and Grandparents and everyone in between in our group though so it was very relaxed. Know what you mean about sore!

I have been to a couple of classes at a school hall near me so maybe not as full on as a gym setting but I love it!
I definitely find going with a friend so you can laugh at each other, takes that whole "Im doing exercise" bit out of it.
The girl who takes the classes is super hot, skinny and fit but she says "dont worry if you dont know the moves, dont worry if you dont look like me or the woman in front of you doing the moves, just keep moving and have fun"
I do feel very un-co sometimes and have to stop to concentrate on the moves which by the time I have it she has moved to the next set but I figure I will have them down patt one day as will you

    I lived through class TWO!
It was much better and I fear this will become a new addiction
