He's had a clear snotty nose (as have I) for about a week or so. Today he woke up and his voice has been replaced with a squeak. His crying sounds sounds so pathetic.
He's also even tugging his ears for a few weeks but there was no fever so I didn't think it was an ear infection. More him discovering his ears existed.
He is also drooling buckets but I can see his bottom teeth so I assumed teething.
What do people reckon? I was inclined to say common cold plus teething but now losing his voice has me a bit worried. Is there anything I can do to relieve his symptoms?
We are away on holidays down the beach (Apollo Bay). If people think I need to get him checked should I just go to the hospital and be prepared to wait?
I would give him some infant ibuprofen and take him to the doctor. He may have an ear infection if he is tugging at them and they would rather see him and know it is nothing than not see him and miss something iykwim. Try calling some GP clinics and you may find one still open. If not try nurse on call 1300 60 60 24 and they will be able to help you decide what to do and where to go, especially if you explain you are on holiday and don't know any of the local clinics.
Dd got a few ear infections with sore throats, she never had a temp - apparently I was the same was only a change in behaviour that was noticeable so I would try get into see a doctor first thing tomorrow.
My DD is 9 months and had all those symptoms last month and we ended up going to emergency department who diagnosed her with tonsilitis. Maybe it is that? I was convinced it was teething as well but i just felt something was wrong (as you obviously do ) and that made me worry as well. Good luck, hope he isnt misarable much longer
